We have verizon DSL service. My husband is running Outlook 2003, Windows 7. Suddenly over the past few days, we are getting errors and he can't access his email at all through outlook (though he can still use the web interface).
When I search for information on the Outlook server settings, it doesn't help that there is NO support for Outlook 2003 (only 2007 and 2010). Still - server settings are server settings, right? And it WORKED until recently, so I don't get what the problem is now!!
We have always used:
incoming: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net
outoing: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
On the verizon/yahoo help site I see:
incoming: pop.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
On verizon's help/support, I see:
incoming: pop.verizon.net
outoing; smtp.verizon.net
I've tried all of these, with port 995 incoming and 465 outgoing. NOTHING is working. When I try to test email settings, I am able to establish network connection, Find outgoing mail server, and find incoming mail server. But it fails to log in, or to send test email message.
Error says "Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server (POP3). The problem could be your SSL or port settings for the incoming server. Verify your port and SSL settings under More Setting on the Advanced Tab."
I have set everything as directed on the Verizon help pages; I've tried the troubleshooter/help app. PLEASE HELP.
