How do I set the DNS server from my Synology NAS as the DNS server for my network? My Fios router is Verizon G3100.

Where do I need to go into in the settings for the router to make this happen? My Synology NAS has a DNS server app that I want to use as the DNS for my network.

Previously I was able to do this with Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine but the Verizon router is free for me so I want to use this to accomplish this.

This would really help me and not having to buy a different router would save me a lot of money. Thank you.

Most likely the DHCP server app would be the right thing to look at. Since one broadcast domain can only have one DHCP server, you need to disable the native DHCP server on G3100 if you choose to enable the Synology DHCP server.

If you can't get either to work as what you have intended, then there is no need to get another router just for the little DHCP server. DHCP server is just a server and any computer could act like a server. There are cheap devices like Raspberry Pi and even Pico can act as a makeshift DHCP server.

If the Synology NAS could act as a DNS server, more likely than not it could also act as a DHCP server. Look for the DNS, Option 6 in DHCP options.

You can't manually adjust Option 6 of the DHCP lease coming out of the G3100, so unfortunately, no you can't achieve this with a G3100 alone.

My Synology NAS also has a DHCP server app. Do I need to use that for DHCP and not DHCP from this router?

I was really hoping for what I asked in the title to work. This would save me so much money, like $400 for a nice router plus almost $200 for an access point. I really don't want to get a router for this if I don't have to. The Fios router is free because of a deal I got for Fios when I signed up.
