International Travel without TravelPass and with International Calling Disabled

Question

With no Verizon International Calling Plan activated, if someone calls my domestic number from the U.S.,, what happens? Does the call go through? Is it considered an International Call? If so, who pays?

I've searched for this scenario in various help sources, but haven't yet found a definitive answer. My guess is that Verizon doesn't want the answers about detailed scenarios like this because they want to drive everyone to Verizon's International Calling Plans. I've used TravelPass before, and it works pretty well, but at $10/day for extended trips, it really adds up.

My plan is to use an eSim with unlimited data for the month I'll be gone. But I'm unclear what happens if someone who does or doesn't know I'm traveling just happens to call my normal number while I've over there.

I read a different thread a little while back from a prepaid customer who says when they are outside the US, anyone trying to call their number gets a recorded message about the number in question having calling restrictions blocking the completion of the call.  In other words, it's as if the line has been disconnected.  So my guess would be that if you have a postpaid line which is completely disabled while you're abroad, it won't be able to receive inbound calls.

There's a vacation suspension you can put in to disable your US phone number for up to 90 days per calendar year, if you're going to be using a foreign SIM while abroad.  Suspending your line will give you a price break on the monthly cost.

As an aside about daily Travel Pass fees: There is a monthly International Service Plan which is $100/month, but you have to be careful that you aren't subscribed to it (and then be getting billed an extra $100/month forever afterwards).  If you are NOT currently under a contract, you can also upgrade your service plan to Unlimited Ultimate, which has built-in Travel Pass service.  Don't try this if you ARE under contract though, because that will break your contract.
