4G LTE Network Extender - phone not ringing, incoming calls going to voicemail

Hi - my wife and I both have iPhone 12 Pro Max phones, so they're the latest. We live in a very marginal/no signal Verizon location (Ignacio Valley, Novato, California). I've always had trouble getting WiFi calling to work, as it seemed like sometimes it appeared and sometimes it didn't depending on whether the phone was seeing a weak Verizon signal.
We got a 4G LTE Network Extender - easy setup, works great for outgoing calls, 4 bar signal strength through the whole house, #48 always shows connected to extender. However, even when I'm sitting a few feet from the extender, calls seems to not ring and go to voicemail.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or ideas.
Thanks!

Port forwarding is generally not needed and can be a security concern leaving ports open and exposed to the internet all the time. Typically having UPnP on (most routers have this on by default) is enough and no manual port configuration is needed.
I would have users try setting their extender to closed first and if that doesn’t work I would look into port forwarding.

I just wanted to follow up with everybody on this chain that I talked to someone from the tier 2 department. I referred them to this thread and told them the gravity of the situation. It was a really nice lady and she seemed like she wasn’t going to let this issue go unseen. On top of this issue I was also having issues with the Extender changing my time zone. I filed A ticket on Friday somebody called me today finally they actually had my issue messed up thinking that it was something different but after I talk to the lady about really what was going on they had my issue fixed by an engineer within a couple hours they called me about 10 AM and it is 1216 currently and I just checked and it was fixed.
I will keep checking on this and if nothing comes of it I will follow the same process and see if I can’t get someone to correct your issue. At the very least I’ll try to talk to an engineer and see if they can create a workflow and provide a webpage link on the Verizon site

Wow! That is great news. Make sure you get the ticket number and details of how they fixed it because this may be what we have all been waiting for.
Thanks -- Steve

It was technically for the Time zone issue but I referenced this thread as an additional issue I was actively experiencing alongside the time zone. The lady took notes to investigate the issue. I gave her the name of this thread and my member ID so she could track it down better.

Yes. Are you still 100% since your fix from Verizon?

Hello,
Can you tell me if you are currently working with one of our Verizon branded Network Extenders?

Who are you asking? All of the Verizon customers on this thread are using LTE Extenders from Verizon NOT Network Extenders.

Who are you respondind to???? As far as I know this has not been resolved for the original poster. There are still many of us that are waiting for an official fix from Verozon.
We get posts here from random people at Verizon who are absolutely no help. Its crazy.

As the original poster on this (now 25 page) thread, I can confirm that there has NOT been a fix from anyone from Verizon. It's pretty clear that the Verizon people on this thread are here to offer platitudes and not actual fixes. Verizon, how about getting some technically knowledgeable engineers on this thread and leave the feel-good messages somewhere else.

Opened ticket with Verizon on Monday about this issue. Called today to check status and was told be Tier 2 Tech that a tech look inot my issue and the Extender will never work for me. He said I am in a area of "marginal" coverage. I was told by Verizon in January, before moving to them, that is exactly what the Extender is for and that it would fix my coverage. He went into a lot of techinical details. I paid $250 for something that may be useless. I will still continue to monitor this thread because I am not 100% convinced that this will not work for me. My Sprint LTE Extender worked fine but the tech said that was because it was analog. I am not able to test the one possible fix by adding the phone number into the details of the device in My Verizon online because the Extender is registered under my sons postpaid account. I have a Prepaid account and get an error when trying to add my phone number into the device. This has been simply insane.

This truly a "Through the Looking Glass" world with Verizon. Saying that the LTE Network Extender wouldn't work because you're in marginal coverage (as I am) is bonkers. It's starting to feel like the LTE Network Extender is simply an unsupported product by Verizon. They should either support it for its intended use or admit that it's a faulty, unsupported product and take it off the market.

With all do respect on this, I think you were close here.
Sounds like what I was just describing to ssprill is that sometimes this happens after describing the issue. Since these problems can often be a number of things, you almost have to help “guide” support to the next Tier.
so when your extender is connected, how many bars of LTE EXTENDER coverage does it say you’re getting? With WiFi turned off on the phone, what are the speed test results?
im sure you’ve answered this already, but humor me.
can you make outgoing calls okay? I would use these two things to reinforce that the extender works but there’s something going on with its settings that are not allowing you to receive calls.
can you confirm that you’ve set the extender to closed access and have opened the ports on your modem/router? (SIMPLY FOR THE SAKE OF TESTING THAT THIS FIXES YOUR ISSUE/ OR DOESN’T)
*I know you shouldn’t have to do that. It does however mean something if it doesn’t.

We are so very sorry for any confusion, I would be just as concerned if I was having service issues. We want to make sure that you can depend on your service. What ZIP code is this happening in? How long has it been going on? -Rosie

I’m new to this thread.
I purchased the extender 2 weeks ago.
I am in 48306 zip code.
all my calls keep going to voicemail.
We have Comcast internet.
The phones are iPhone 12.
we can make calls from the home.
text messages seem to work fine.
calls from outside the house go to voicemail.

WE NEED A FIX FROM VERIZON. IT APPEARS TO BE FIXED FOR ONE PERSON. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO WHAT HE DID TO GET THIS TO WORK.

ram5thwheel, keeping you connected is a priority, especially for work. Regrettably signal in certain areas can be tough to obtain due to many factors. It was mentioned the Network Extender is not interacting properly with the devices. We can work on that, but have you tried using Wi-Fi calling https://www.verizon.com/support/wifi-calling-faqs/ to see how that goes?
