Working through the initial setup. this is the new one, not the samsung. no blue lights. The initiation is hanging up on getting a certificate from the CMP Server. I talked to VZ Wireless and they said it's all fine and activated on their end. Want me to talk to VZ Fios people to see if on their end. I've restarted and factory reset a bunch of times already. Has GPS no problem. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Same issue here (5A).
Some background: Got one of the VZW (non-Samsung) LTE network extenders yesterday. Went through set up, device said it was active, Verizon confirmed proper setup, but no phones would connect (and it killed all LTE service nearby). After unsuccessful troubleshooting, Verizon acknowledged that many of these devices are defective, and had me exchange it for a new one. The new one I got is getting hung up on error message 5A, which this thread makes seem like a router/ISP issue, but I'm not so sure. I attempted bypassing the router (connecting the modem straight to the network extender) without success. I have a very reliable ISP with a great connection. Something has to be happening on the Verizon side that is causing these issues.
Verizon rep, please advise.

We too are having a problem with our LTE Network Extender. We are on the 3rd one from Verizon and have it plugged straight into the router. It shows 9/10 satellites but no devices and then goes to Error 5A. Over 3 days we have talked to 17 different people with over 5 hours on the phone and the final straw was when the corporate store manager got a tech on the phone for us after hitting the category for network extender and the person asked “what is a network extender and where did you get it from”? I kid you not. That was the final straw. Is there someone who is not reading the troubleshooting manual please get in touch with us?

There are network servers that have a database associating the MAC ID's of network extenders to users' accounts. This is NOT the same as having the device show up in your My Verizon account. Agents on this Forum @vzw_customer_support (Robert) can check your My Verizon account to see if the extender is there but generally aren't aware of this network server database requirement, nor do they have access to it. You HAVE to get to an advanced technical support person who is aware and has access to the network server database to associate the MAC ID to your account. When you call, keep pressing until you get transferred to one of these advanced technical support people.

Rec'd Verizon 4GE LTE Network Extender yesterday. I have Verizon FIOS internet and Verizon Wireless and live in an area with a poor signal. The extender acquired an IP address from my router, then picked up GPS satellites (no GPS antenna was included in the box, but that didn't seem to matter). Then error 5A despite powering cycling. Called Tech Support-- no answer but the My Verizon Chat app worked. The tech was great. He had me send him the MAC ID of the unit then power it off. He added the MAC address into Verizon's system to activate it. Then I powered it on and no more 5A. It is working well. From reading this and other forums, it sounds like most if not all of these extenders ship out inactivated. Since Verizon is the one sending out the unit they would save themselves and their customers a lot of energy and grief if they were activated when shipped. Hope this helps others.

I’m also having the same issue with the new Verizon LTE Network Extender. I have the new Xfinity High Speed Router/Modem and continue to get error message 5A. I have the extender by the window and followed user guide instructions. Please advise

I just went through all of this. The ever infamous 5A error code. After doing as much troubleshooting that I could I my end, which consisted of disabling Upnp, port forwarding the necessary ports, checking all my connections, disabling or lowering my firewall and advanced security settings, restarting the device, router, and modem several times, it still didn't work. I called tech support and it showed that is was not active on their end. On my end it showed activated. Make sure you get tech support though and not customer service, customer service cannot see the same things as tech support can. He simply verified my mac address on my device, activated it on his end and I was finally up and running. So my advice is to make sure when you call in, speak to tech support.

Hello, Tshannon. We would never want to see you leave due to this issue. Have you or your Wi-Fi service provider checked the LAN/firewall settings to make sure the Network Extender is not being blocked? *Cassie

I have the same problem with the #LTEnetworkextender I purchased from #Verizon directly .
i was told my (super slow centurylink) internet speeds are to blame for not getting cmp server certificate.
The specifications below were given to me along with recommendation to return the unit for a full refund.
“Thank you for a network extender to be compatible it would require speeds of
Download of 10 Mbps
(20 Mbps recommended)
Upload of 5 Mbps
(10 Mbps recommended)”
Odd there is no mention of the requirements in the description of the device on the Verizon store or in the user manual for the device
hopefully this post will save others from wasting their time and money like I did!

I'm so sorry you're getting this error too, rlstangel. When did this start happening? Please check the Ethernet cable is firmly connected at both ends, and the switch, router or internet gateway is turned on.
Please keep us posted. -Vanessa

DON'T BOTHER IF YOU HAVE SATELLITE INTERNET. I wasted more than 2 hours only to have Tech Support tell me that the Network Extender usually doesn't work with satellite internet because satellite internet does not use fixed IP addresses.
