In my home the signal switches from 3G to 4G LTE as I walk around with my iPhone 5a. Has anyone used a signal booster with good success? I am considering one to gain 4G LTE all of the time. I am located in a rural area so I am also thinking about the potential that it will become my home internet service too. Please let me know of personal experiences with signal boosters and bandwidth issues for Internet browsing.
Thanks,

Take a look at this - this is an booster or repeater rather than an extender. It would work in the situation where you have a decent signal outside in a location, but not consistent indoors.

I assume you are referring to the Samsung Network Extender sold by Verizon
Network Extender | Verizon Wireless
If that is the case you need to provide it a broadband connection to do its job, it basically becomes a small cell tower for your home and uses the internet to connect to Verizon.

Note: The Network Extender can enhance your calling or 3G data coverage. It s not designed to enhance 4G LTE data coverage.
