Why does Elipsis 7 use so much memory for misc files and what are they?

My Elipsis 7 uses 5.46gb of the system's 8gb for misc.  I also have an LG G8 and it only uses 1.76gb for misc.  Why the big difference and is there a way to clear up some the memory on the Elipsis? As it still cannot move apps to the SD card even with KitKat it would be nice to free up some of this.

This partition space contains miscellaneous system settings, and other types of files excluding apps and multimedia files (audio, video, pictures).

Examples may include:

Books

Documents

Some app data (depending on the app)
