Down in Minneapolis. No mobile network, phone works for calls, I've heard the 4G uses reverse engineering to get back to 3G. I've also heard it ain't perfect.

Last time it went down, I turned my G off and I got G back... never turned it back on.. Any ideas why the workaround isn't working around this time??

Currently, no reported outages in that area. Please let us know if you are still having issues with your service. If you haven't already done so, please perform a soft reset by removing the battery for a few seconds.
Thanks

another update...
turns out it switched itself back?
here's how i got mine to work.. (TBolt)
Dial ##778# and hit send
A pop-up window named EPST will show up giving you 2 choices:
View Mode and Edit Mode. Pick: Edit Mode.
Enter the Password: 000000
Go down to Modem Settings and pick “Rev A“
You’ll want to choose enable and click OK, hit the menu
button and then press “Commit Modifications.”
Restart your phone and you should see 3G is working
Default - eHRPD
last step (may not be required if you get 3G after restart)
dial *#*#4636#*#* then set preferred network type to
CDMA auto (PRL) ---will stop phone from looking for LTE signal
Default - CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto
