Additional 2GB data for free?

I just got a text message from Verizon claiming that they would add an additional 2 GB of data per month for the same price as now with no change to voice or contract extension. I am currently on the "more everything unlimited talk&text 2gb" plan.

I am skeptical of this "2 gb of data for free" offer and am wondering what the catch is. Anyone familiar?

As a guess other wireless have been doubling data allowances, so this is probably just Verizon responding to competition. Verify whether your contract is renewed/restarted.

Like I mentioned in the OP, the text message claims that there's no contract extension.

There is no catch. Do you want the extra data or not? The 6 GB plan is now 10 GB and the old 10 GB plan is now 15 GB. Verizon is offering more data on the other lower plans for current customers as a courtesy.
