Are applications free? Or do we have to pay for them like subscription in Get It Now?
I'll be getting an iPhone today - I really hope the major apps are free, like facebook, internet, navigation, email, and stuff. XD ~ thanks
There are many free applications for the iPhone but the majority of the apps do require a one-time purchase cost. Prices for most apps are $0.99 - $4.99 (with some being higher).
There are built in email and internet applications, I believe that there is a free facebook application. Navigation is going to cost however.
Good luck with your new phone.
download the latest itunes and look around
you will need it amnyway as its required to activate an iphone
In reference to Spiral's post, Navigation is included for no extra cost. Or at least it was when I purchased my iPhone in April.
He's right in that most major apps (Facebook, email, Pandora, etc.) are free, but most require a one-time fee which you charge through your Apple ID payment info.
The App store has a lot of great free apps, too. For instance, when you enter the App Store, select the "Top 25" option, then push "Top Free".
Not to mention there are a few apps (generally free) that will inform you of apps that normally would cost, but are free for a limited time. There's one that I know of that actually allows you to suggest an app that you'd like to see for free, they try to contact the makers fo the app and get them to put it up free for a day or so. It's a great way to try an app that you may not have wanted to waste your money on.
The nice thing about Apps on an iPhone is that Apple requires them to go through a screening process, so not just any **bleep** can put a crappy app in the App Store. I found that problem a lot with my old Palm, and my husband's Android. That said, even the ones you pay for are often worth the money.
