Coverage Issue

I was with Verizon for 15 years then had to leave because I could not afford their high costs after falling on hard times but they were the only ones I could get quality service coverage. Finally two years ago was able to afford the high cost just to get back good coverage but after this last year the coverage is getting worse and worse,. My family has gone from 4/5 bars to now only getting 1 maybe 2 bars in the same house and they almost seem like fake bars cause things take forever to load. I also now work right next to a Verizon cell tower and I don’t even get full service, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!! I’ve switched the 5G on and off with even worse results on 5G, I bearly get LTE. I’ve gone into Verizon where we purchased our phones and went through and adjusted all possible setting but still terrible cell service. I’m strongly thinking of going back to my last provider since now I am getting the same cell coverage as I did with them but not paying the high prices or any other provider at this point. I hope this gets resolved soon because my patience is nearing an end

I have the same issue. Coverage seems to be getting slimmer all the time. I live in a very large Metro area and couldn't get signal at my former house within city limits (you could about 2 blocks away). Reliable wi-fi internet allowed me to work around the issue. I recently moved to a small town that is growing fast outside (but near) to the metro area and once again I'm about 3-4 blocks away from service. The problem is that now I have unreliable internet and need my cell service to be reliable. I have asked neighbors on community boards who has a reliable signal and it seems that everyone but Verizon does. Several had reached out to Verizon before changing service only to be offered cell extenders for a reduced or complimentary price. Breaking up after 14 years of service is hard to do.

Im having issues in areas that I’ve never had issues, outside is terrible and then inside is even worse! I understand being inside a building can cause interference but like is said and my job there is a Verizon tower on the edge of the property and still have terrible service. It literally goes in and out within a block or two, going from 4 or 5 bars of LTE (not even 5G) to only one maybe 2 bars. The weather isn’t effect it cause it cause it’s the same every day no matter the weather.

This is an ongoing problem for me too. I’ve had Verizon for 16 years and never had an issue up until these past 2-3 years.

Indoors, outdoors, in the city, on wifi, in the country. Forget about it. The service is horrible everywhere I go even with a brand spanking new phone. Verizon’s horrible coverage nearly cost me my job in 2022 when I couldn’t answer an important client call. Come to find out my husband had a different provider and full service at the same location. It has driven me to my wits end and I’ve paid everything from 60 to 230 for a bill. The prices are astronomical compared to the coverage. I’ve been debating switching providers way more than I should in the past 2 years that I should have done it by now.

Same problem here as well. Been living out in the country of east central rural Illinois for the last 6 years. Service was excellent the first 3 to 4 years. The last two years have been a very different experience. Internet data is a night and day difference, much slower. Can't even stream a video with a crisp image, often grainy. Have to wait for websites to load, takes Netflix about 8-10 seconds just to fully load main screen most of the time, etc. etc.

After reading a few replies and Verizon customer service response w follow up questions, I will go ahead and answer those questions so you don't have to ask them. The poor performance is primarily data. Text takes slower to load when sending pictures and videos, but text-only messages rarely have any issue. Calls are fine. I live near the corner of 75 N and 1600 N, 62423.

Highly considering finding a different service provider, although would certainly much rather this problem be remedied. Many people in my area experiencing the same thing.

I live in rural Missouri and used to be the only thing that worked at my house was Verizon. I’ve been with them 26 years and would go all over very remote locations and never had problems til the last several years. Calls can be troublesome on occasion, more breaking up and only hearing every other word at times. Text are usually ok unless sending photos but data is the worst. Just now I had 2 bars and tried to go to website, wouldn’t work, so I searched ‘have two bars but data not working’. Told me to go to settings and reset, now I only have 1 bar. Good grief! Prices keep climbing but services keep getting worse.

I have just recently switch back to Verizon T-Mobile, I have to say T-Mobile is the worst phone provider I’ve ever had in my entire life. Comes from person who has been rising since the beginning his lifespan. I was angry with Verizon for one reason that should’ve never happened, but covid had just started and it was a authorized Verizon retailer store, not corporate that sold me the device and allowed some things that severely impacted my credit. I’d call laziness or just a stroke of bad luck but than Verizon did something else. Can’t cry over spilt milk tho right?

regardless, T-Mobile is the absolute worst form provider I’ve ever had in my entire life. They allowed somebody to open three fraudulent lines in my name .. despicable , they also tried to charge me for two months of service after they told me they’d pay Verizon the remaining balance on my account so I could switch conveniently omitting the fact that I’d have to pay the balance myself first to recurve the credit , never mind the fact that they tried to charge me for two months of service that not a single bit of data was used . Their customer service is terrible .. wait time to speak to customer service ? Averages about 1 hour .. service ? Garbage .. fixing mistakes that they made ? Terrible .. tried to tell me I had to pay the remaining balance off before they credited back the money I paid for three fraudulent lines mind you ; I never seen them on my bill just wondered why my balance was so high .. disgusting I ******* HATE YOU T-MOBILE YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS AND for that matter I hate the person who stole my info or devices, but still talk about s**** service and customer support , with that said I’ve heard somewhat good things and experienced good things with AT&T , Sprint ehh , cricket mobile? Might as well go be a d*** d****r & they’re service is pretty mundane and basic, spectrum; inmo ; not up to par with Verizon but just about as close as you’ll get considering they ( correct me if I’m wrong ) use Verizon’s cell towers but still not the same as Verizon. Text now ? Basic , boost mobile ; blah ; t-mobile again and apart of the reason three fraudulent lines were opened in my name and credit . Bah disrespectfully atrocious , i can only hope they lose their business and file for bankruptcy .. like even they’re Mobil app is boring and I’d have to say flashy enough to try to woo you away from the terrible service your getting , NOT TO MENTION THEYRE BILL BREAKDOWN IS SO MANY NUMBERS MEANT TO CONFUSE YOU LIKE SHEESH tracfone ? All in all Verizon I wish you never robbed me ( to put it bluntly and the truth ) I understand but your retail store didn’t actually go over the contract w me , they just wanted a quick sale . BUT

VERIZON YOU ROCK AND I LOVE BEING A VERIZON customer, I live in the surburbs = Albany , NY (state and city is terrible, might as well be jail in the streets) but I have yet a place to see where I don’t get coverage and if I do have a bad coverage it’s very rare and very mild . NOW W/ t mobile I’ve had literal dead zones where I couldn’t use my phone at all .

your best chance and coverage and service is always gonna be Verizon until it stops being Verizon which I don’t see that happening, being that I was born in the x or y generation I’m prolly gonna be able to call my wife from a different planet using Verizon .. or I can only hope but these are all 100% certified facts im writing .. take it how you want to but Verizon is the best coverage, service & perk phone service provider you will ever get

same thing. I just switched Service to get better service and I have one bar.

the problem is not just at my home it is everywhere. I often have to ask people to repeat what they say because the breaking up is so bad. They ask me to repeat also and usually end up trying to call another time.

Same here nothing but weak signal and unusable cellphones. Service was fine a few years ago and has gradually gone downhill. The towers need to be upgraded only 4g lte here. Verizon tries to excuse their failures by saying they cannot promise service indoors. What good are they as a company when most people do not have a home phone they have only cellular. What use is a phone that you have to wander the neighborhood to use when people need their phones at home.

We live in South Texas and have been experiencing this problem for several months now. Many times we get the SOS symbol or zero bars. How can it go from normal/good signal to almost nothing in a matter of months? Many times I’ll get a text that says ‘welcome to Mexico’ when I’m in my bedroom.

I am with you. I have been with Verizon for 17+ years. The last two to three years service has been dropping off tremendously. I had the same experience of always having service when my friends with other providers did not. It has definitely reversed. Now they have service and I either have SOS or no bars. Not to mention the issues with my bill that took them 6 months to resolve after over 14 total hours of calls to fix it. Verizon has dramatically decreased in their cell service and customer service the last two to three years while increasing my cost per line. It's ridiculous. It used to be worth it to pay more for great service. Now it just costs more than everyone else for poorer quality.

I have been with Verizon for 22 years and have noticed in my neighborhood that we have less coverage despite sitting in the middle of three Verizon towers that are no more than 3/4 miles away. There used to be a stretch of 2-3 houses that calls or apps would be very spotty. Now, that stretch of 2-3 houses has grown to about 2-3 blocks that I cannot rely on service when out walking my dog. If I were to walk outside my house, to the right.....2 bars. To the left.....barely one. For as much as I am paying.......

same issues here. verizon service is really bad. never had this problem 2 years ago. it seems like when they went to 5g their coverage got worse. they just say well sorry but dont give you a answer.

My service has gone away as well. Places I used to get service, I no longer do. My boyfriend has T-Mobile and it works so much better. What has happened to Verizon? It certainly doesn’t seem worth the high prices anymore. Thinking seriously about switch for something cheaper.

I will have full bars, yet I can text a photo. It’s just garbage service anymore. So disappointing.

Yes Verizon is awful now!! My phone goes into sos daily. My internet is non existent I have to be on my home WiFi or it doesn’t work. My phone calls constantly fail Currently dealing with a miscommunication in their part that was documented that they never told me the information but now being charged for it and they won’t do anything about it not to mention the “like new” replacement what a flipping joke this phone is worse then the one I was trying to replace that was brand new by the way and had so many issues it’s not funny. Anytime I try to talk to anyone they say my phone is breaking up so bad they can’t hear me. My speakers are so quiet I can barely hear anyone else. They used to be the best so I stayed and paid their outlandish prices. But now my teenager has T-Mobile and her service always works

I have been with Verizon for 20 years and seriously, and I mean seriously thinking of switching. I am getting tired of the ever increasing DEAD zones. Will be contacting them about that and the fact I can not send emails vis Wi-Fi. Sad but they are going to loose many customers due to their game playing.

Be ready for increased phone signal but nothing else. I have had their signal booster for a few months but still have issues either wi-fi and dropping calls. Personally I want the signal I had less than a year ago. Which was a strong 4+bars, now a make believe 3/4. Might be a strong signal showing but I still have dead area's in my house.

Good luck! We just tried to call them and explain our dead zone service area at the customer service representative told us to call when from the dead zone. What The Heck! ! If we are in SOS mode we can’t make a call. Service has gone downhill a lot the last year or so. Husband’s new phone won’t have service but his old work phone will have it. This stinks! Time to shop around?

My service throughout the whole Pittsburgh area is just horrendous. Matter of fact almost anywhere I go it’s terrible. Thank god for home wifi. Been with Verizon for 15 years give or take and thinking I’m gonna switch unfortunately. The cost is incredibly high for sub par service. I need my phone for work with getting called into for emergencies and it’s unacceptable. Most times I get LTE with 2 bars that is as if there’s absolutely no service. Then I’ll get regular 5g full bars and I can’t even get on google or send a message at all. Even with 2 bars of 5gUW it’s just incredibly slow to a frustrating point. My point is most of time it’s as if I have no service. From what I’ve seen most people are having the same problem. I think it’s time for a switch even though it’s the last thing I would wanna do. Has anyone found a remedy for this ?

I live in central Illinois and everyone I know that has Verizon says their coverage has decreased drastically in the past two years. Some places it’s not even usable. It used to be the best coverage but not even close anymore. This isn’t one particular area either, it’s all over. It’s driving down the interstate, Bloomington, Normal, Peoria, Morton, Pekin, Mackinaw and everywhere in between. There was a large group of friends all talking about the same issues and what other cell provider we can switch to.

I have talked with colleagues and we are all experiencing the same problems -- less to no coverage from Verizon. I am currently checking out alternatives. It is extremely inconvenient and even dangerous at times to be driving alone and have Waze not be able to change routes because there is no connection.

Not sure if this is the right spot to comment this but the Doral 24 hour fitness in Miami Florida has horrible signal and spotiness. It makes my phone totally wig out every time I go. I drop to one or two bars and can’t even send texts, play music, or even lock or unlock my phone for a few minutes at a time . I bought the phone through you guys on my birthday last year so it shouldn’t be an issue with the hardware unless you think I should have it looked at by a store close to me through you guys. Please feel free to email me if you can reach out to me or my account privately. I couldn’t find any cellphone outage reporting links or anything anywhere which was disappointing. Just customers commenting similar complaints so I figured this was my best bet. Another concern of mine was that I wanted to pay my phone off fully when I purchased it and was under the impression that I did, only to find out it was put on a self paying payment plan which is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. It shouldn’t even be an option. But because of this plan, I haven’t been able to do any upgrades or use any of the new offers given to existing customers. When I tried to apply for them on the phone or in the app I was told I had to wait. I’ve been a customer for over a decade now and usually yall are great, just a bit pricey. This has been super annoying as I go to the gym 5-6 days a week for 2 hours each time and it sometimes happens 2-3 times a session. I’d love to get this solved as soon as possible if we can. I think it said I’m 50% paid off which again seems ridiculous for almost 2 years of self payments, but if we can solve this and get it righted I’d appreciate it. Thanks guys.

I have the same issue. I am getting horrible signal and I have internet with Verizon as well and is spotty as well. I seriously can not wait for my contract to be over so I can switch. I have to ask my son who has a different lesser carrier to give me hot spot when we are out so I can do simple functions.

Hello Verizon support. I have been to local store and called the numbers they provided. Situation is not resolved. Can't wait to leave this company for better coverage and service.

Clearly, with the number of people having issues and the range across the states it is occurring, it is a you problem. Not us.

The coverage has gotten absolutely horrible
I am the last person whoever ever goes on any kind of community forum or complaints or calls anyone ever.

But this is getting so bad I’m ready to switch to T-Mobile or any other carrier. They are all awfulbut Verizon is worse or as bad as all of them now anyway.

You guys ready for the answer , because somewhere along the chain of command they thought because 5g was out that they no longer needed the older 4g and 3g antennas so if you look up any cell tower in your area you’ll see within the last 2-4 years they have been reworked. So as they progressively overhaul these towers to only 5g everyone will slowly lose all their service until they build more 5g towers than u can shake a stick at. Look at drones there’s a reason they still use 2.4 ghz WiFi because WiFi 6 and 5 don’t travel thru hardly anything and don’t travel the distance. Well it’s the same thing.

We’ve had the same issue and because of dropped calls and one bar, I am looking at other options. We are in Eagle Idaho at beacon light and park ln. I used to get 4-5 bars snd 5G almost exclusively.

The last year has been horrific. Inside my home I am lucky to get one bar and half the time I can’t get 5G. Outside, calls drop regularly and sometimes I can’t even get service to place a call for several seconds.

i am going to have to test T Mobile after many years with Verizon.

I had excellent service until about 2 months ago. I live about 30 miles southwest of Detroit. I guess there was an outage in Livonia, MI. Before the outage, I had no issues. I live about 15 miles North of Livonia and I have to use wifi because the signal is unreliable now. I work about 5 miles north of Livonia and I never had an issue, but I'm right next to a tower. The data speed at home used to be close to 300mb/s and now I'm lucky to see half that so I can't use a hotspot even though I pay for it in my plan. At work, I get between 575 mb/s and 750 mb/s and before was over 900mb/s. I changed plans hoping it would give me a better connection, but didn't.
