Dropped calls and failure to respond by verizon

I have been a Verizon subscriber for over 10 years.  I live in Garden City, KS.  The service used to be Alltel.  Service was pretty good before Verizon purchased it.  Every since Verizon has taken over the service has gotten really sorry.  The current problem started about 5 weeks ago.  Service is so bad it is unusable.  Calls are dropped during dialing, and within 30 seconds of answering.  Phone commes back and tells me I am out of the service area or No network available.  I have contacted tech support twice and was told that they have a tower they are having problems with.  I have tried emailing customer service and get absolutely no service or response from them.  I have contacted corporate 3 times and no response.  I was promised that I would get a callback on two occasions, which did not happen and no answer on the third call, voice mail on which I left a message with no call back.  I have filed a complaint with the FCC and two complaints with the BBB and still no response from Verizon.

I would also like to note that my wife has the same kind of phone that I do, Samsung Galaxy Nexus with the same problem.  We live within a mile of the local tower.  My reception when I get it averages around -90dbm.  I get a maximum of 2 bars when I get service and you can watch the indicator and it jumps from 2 bars to completely blank, back to 3G then sometimes back to 4G for a short time before completely losing signal.

Is this Verizon's way of getting rid of customers?  They will certainly not get any recommendations from me and it is doubtful if my service will be renewed since they apparently don't give a &^*&^*&^ about their customers.

Has anyone else had this kind of LACK of service from Verizon?

"Has anyone else had this kind of LACK of service from Verizon?"

Lack of service is the only service verizon seems to have now-a-days.

armaki, So sorry to hear you are having service issues. Are you also dropping calls? Could you advise what zipcode you are having the trouble in? Happy to help!

Zip Code 67846.  Garden City, KS.  This is getting really aggravating.  Just attempted an important business call.  Took 3 times as call dropped within 45 seconds.  I had to redial twice and the company had to call me back once.  Phone says service not available.  Indicator goes blank.  Wait for a minute then indicator reappears.  345 seconds later it is gone again.

What's the DAMN problem.. 2 damn years???? How is this problem rectified? ?? It ticks me off that I'm paying you for a service and I'm not getting that service!  I want a HUGE refund, or maybe a class action suit should be filed. .

Luckydragon13,

Our goal is to keep our customers, and keep them happy. Lets bring back the good times! When you spoke with technical support, was a Trouble Ticket ever filed to see why your service is having trouble? If it was, what were the results?

When I made my first complaint the TS person told me she was going to file a trouble ticket.  As the issue is occurring on two different phones the phones were eliminated as the cause.  She told me she was going to send the issue to the network division.  A week later I received a call from the same TS person and she told me that they were having tower issues here and that they were working on it.  That was 5+ weeks ago.  Again, multiple attempts to contact verizon have resulted in NOTHING.  Just a half hour ago I tried to make a business call and had to redial twice and the company had to call me back once.  Call dropped within 45 seconds of being connected.  Indicator went blank and phone notified me that service was not available..

Yesterday I again tried to contact TS.  Got a rep and she researched the issue.  Said she could not find anything about a previous trouble ticket but her log shows many, many dropped calls.  She did initiate a trouble ticket and told me it would take about a week to get results.  In the meantime I am paying $200.00/mth for service that I am not getting.  Again you are first to show any inclination to care.

City is Garden City, KS  Zip is 67846.  TS shows several towers within a mile of my location.  Went to Dodge City yesterday and no problems until I returned to my residential area.  Not just my house but anywhere within a couple of miles of my residence.  Looks like if I am going to use  my phone I will have to go some other location.

Luckydragon13,

Let's ensure you are able to use your phone everywhere you go! Have you received a resolution for your trouble ticket yet? What kind phone do you have? Is your software up to date? We want to ensure this matter is resolved to ensure you can use your phone.

I am having the same problem, beginning 10 days ago. My Verizon service has always been fine (I am on the Alabama Gulf Coast). About 10 days ago, calls started dropping and nobody could hear me on the phone (I make my living on the phone, so this is bad). I called customer service numerous times. Service was so bad that I had to leave the house to call. I was asked if "recent re-emergence of foliage" could be an issue (it's the coast- no foliage). Strangest thing is that I still have plenty of bars! The next-door neighbor as well as visitors are having the same problem. I was told the district manager had been informed, but no improvement. Since customer service is a NIGHTMARE (minimum 15 minute wait), and connecting by email/web is equally horrible, this forum seems to be the only time Verizon is noticing. Therefore Verizon- I am copying this and considering this written notice of HORRIBLE service. I will have to end my six device agreement with you before contract end with NO PENALTY since you are the one at fault and doing nothing to improve the problem.

And one more thing, Verizon- please feel free to call me to discuss at  (removed). If I am home I will leave so that we can talk.

Emacon, service when you need it most is super important! What zip code are you experiencing the issues in? Does this happen both indoors and outdoors? Also, what make & model phone? Have we had the opportunity to submit a ticket in your location? The last thing we would want is to lose you as a customer. Please share details so we can dive deeper!

I have had my Galaxy Note 3 for less than 1 year and it started dropping calls even across the street.  I went to my Verizon Store & the Sim Card was replaced.  After only a few weeks the same thing happened again.  I got a new Galaxy Note 3 and it was o.k. for a couple of months and now the same thing is happening again.  I cannot even make a call just 15 miles away without the call dropping.  It has become about useless to even have this phone, but I've sought help via live chat, and also by calling customer service.  They have no real resolution.  I also added my home phone to my Verizon account as I have been a customer for 12 years.  I am thoroughly disgusted with the Galaxy Note 3 as I pay for phone service and it's rare to have a conversation without it dropping the call.Dropped calls and failure to respond by verizon

I share your frustrations and sentiments.  It's unfortunate that there are no laws to protect consumers from the false claims made by the cell phone carriers and manufacturers of cell phone devices.  We're paying for a service they promote and we're not getting it!

Since purchasing my Note 3 in March 2014, I've had ongoing issues with the phone.  After 8 hours of cumulative time with Verizon's technical support, they've referred me to Samsung Technical Support who referred me to the Samsung in-house "specialist" located in Best Buy stores.

At the end of the day I was told that maybe I need to be issued another Note 3, which would be refurbished.  Since I bought the phone new in March and am still making payments on it, they want to give me a used phone and continue paying for a new phone.  I objected to the refurbished phone and was told that this is Verizon's policy.

No matter what, they still screw the consumer.

I am having similar problems with my Samsung Galaxy 5.. it seems that in the afternoons and evenings I'm unable to call out or receive calls in my house.. there is a cell tower less than a mile from my house, VERIZON says they have the best coverage - Not with my damn phone.. maybe I'll just stop paying my cell bill.. and go back to using a phone on the wall.. more reliable.

Pgunther, making sure you have the best coverage is what we want. What happens when you try to make an outbound call?

Ok, I've been reading the posts and responses from Customer Support on this phone.  I need to make important calls this afternoon, but I'm unable to dial out, says "Out of Call Area" yet I'm in eyesight of a cell tower.

I don't see any resolution to the problem!!!  This is the WORSED phone I've ever had...

What is my course of action? Please Help

How do you know that cellular tower is a Verizon Wireless one?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Pgunther,

We definitely want to make sure you have the service that you need where you need it. Everything checks out here at first glance. Are these issues that you are experiencing specific to this location only? Does service change indoors and out? Has a ticket ever been filed with our network technicians and if so are you aware of the results?

I have had this lack of service and have just written a detailed blog on the shabby customer service, and all the dropped calls, and on the fact that we were "downgraded to marginal service" after 8 years of excellent coverage. See The Alexandria Papers (dot) com. You are not alone. Unfortunately, VZN no longer cares.
