I am requesting input about how to hook up and external answering machine with the verizon wireless home phone connect
Thanks for any information

Can I use my telephone answering machine instead of my Verizon Wireless Voice Mail with Home Phone Connect? Yes, you can use your answering machine with Home Phone Connect. Set the answering machine to fewer rings than your current mobile device’s setting so that it picks up the call before Verizon Wireless Voice Mail engages. Alternatively, if you would like to use your Voice Mail, either turn off your home answering machine or increase the number of rings at which it’s set to pick up the call. For instructions on adjusting the ring settings for your home answering machine, please refer to the user material the manufacturer provided.
And if you are asking how to physically set it up, I believe there are 2 input jacks on the "connect" unit, so your home phone would plug into one and the answering machine into the other. Post back if you need more info.... or try the Residential Forums....
Hey SuzyQ (or anyone else),
Maybe you can help me. I just set up the home phone connect but now the ringer on my phone does ring so I never know when I get a phone call. The ringer is on on my phone and the no ringing occurs if I have my answering machine off to let the Verizon voicemail pick up or if I have my answering machine on to let my machine grab it. This has only started happening since I plugged in the home phone connect.
Obviously, something is going wrong here and I need to hear my phone ring. Have you heard of this happening to any other users and do you have any suggestions/answers?
I sure don't want to have to switch back to AT&T and go back to being ripped off.
Thanks,
Kelly
Switch off verizons answering system if your using your own. you should be able to do this from your "My Verizon" account, or call verizon and have them shut it down.
I am not able to operate the answering machine remotely when it is connected to home phone connect. When connected to a land line, the answering machine is operable remotely by keying in control sequences on any phone. The tones don't seem to get to the answering machine I when operate it remotely through home phone connect. Any thoughts --- or is just a limitation of the product?
