One of the VZW reps that roam this community posted a link to the Real Estate contact information for potential tower sites.

As a customer you can check with your local building commission for the requirements and to voice support for a new tower. If there is a plan in the works already add your support for it. Between working through the local requirements and the FCC and leasing or purchasing delays, it can take years to get a new tower approved and built and put into service.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Can you tell me what the status is of putting a cell tower in Hanksa, MN or who we could call to check on the status?

Our business just opened a 2nd location there and there is no Verizon service in this town but AT&T works just fine.

Thank you,

Tara

There are no 3-4 story commercial buildings in our area but there is a community water tower. Would this be a candidate for a cell tower in a poorly covered suburban location???

We certainly want the best possible service for you, technotrekker. I'm happy to shed some light on this. As mentioned earlier in this forum, if you own real estate of your own that you would like evaluated, you can go here for consideration: http://spr.ly/66001OCY4

As Ann154 pointed out, checking with your local building commission for the requirements and to voice support for a new tower is certainly another path you might want to take. However, if you are having issues with your service, we are happy to troubleshoot with you, just let us know more about what's going on exactly and where the nearest cross streets and zip code to the location where you are primarily impacted are. Does this help?

Thanks for replying Ryan. Although the  Verizon (and other provider) coverage maps will say otherwise, the western side of our town (02806) and my whole neighborhood all experience very poor reception (average 1 out of 4 bars, down to 0 out of 4 bars for those who live close to the shore). Some residents have been given free signal boosters, others rely on WiFi calling, but given the harsh winters we shouldn't have to rely on electrical based solutions in power outages/emergencies.  The situation is so bad that I'm going to start a petition to collect details of impacted residents so they can be submitted to the various networks in bulk.

** Are you able to provide details of the team at Verizon who I would submit these details to? **

As requested, 02806 and nearest cross road is Alfred Drown Rd and 3rd St. Thanks

Thank you for your reply, technotrekker.

You can submit the information with the Real Estate Form: http://spr.ly/66001OCY4

Do you have home-based internet/WiFi? Being so close to the water, I can see how service can be a challenge. However, WiFi can certainly help for indoor coverage.

Appreciate it Vanessa but a lot of people around the world live near water and don't have poor cell coverage. We shouldn't have to rely on WiFi calling to make a service work that we each pay hundreds of dollars a month for...

So I started a petition in our neighborhood and already have over 100 signatures of residents suffering from poor AT&T and Verizon reception. Need to work out what to do with Verizon ones at least (e.g. Lodge a joint complaint).

We hear your concerns loud and clear, technotrekker. We definitely want the best for you, however, a check does show marginal coverage in this area in this area. Coverage may not be available in this area, or it may vary day to day.  In this area, you may have trouble making a phone call or using your service. Coverage may vary day to day due to a variety of reasons such as cell site changes, foliage, construction, population changes, and interference (especially from the nearby water). I know the issues with service are far from ideal. Unfortunately, Verizon Wireless is not able to provide reliable service in your area (at least at specific area you mentioned earlier).  Let’s look at some things that we can do to help. We recommend using Wi-Fi for data when possible and the Wi-Fi Calling feature. If you aren't already using the Wi-Fi Calling feature and don't know how to enable it, please let us know the make/model of your phone and we'll provide you instructions on how to enable it. Does this clarify?

While I appreciate a response I found the it patronizing. I have WiFI Calling enabled already, and while it is fine to improve call quality, so why am I paying you a couple of hundred dollars a month for two phones to access a cellular service that does not work in a residential area?  WiFi Calling doesn’t help when I take my kids to the bus stop and my work conference call drops, or when there is a power outage in the neighborhood and I can’t communicate with neighbors without walking through the snow to see them face to face.

I have 130+ signatures on a petition and am in the process of getting a formal letter of support from our Town Council. If you want to help please provide contact details of the department within Verizon that can accept and resolve bulk complaints, as I don't believe that a bunch of environmental factors that are present in many other suburban locations around the world mean that you 'can't' provide a reliable service to our location - you just won't make the required investment to make it happen.

Getting the best service for your money is essential. We're sorry to see that you've been having issues with your service. Please keep in mind that there are several factors that can affect your service. We have also reviewed the network tickets we had on file for you and have discovered this is an area with marginal coverage. We always want the best service for all of our customers. We work hard to improve service everywhere we can. However, there are some locations we cannot install a tower. This can be due to local government regulations, lack of available land to build a site or geographical limitations that are needed to support a tower. Cell sites are shared resources, similar to a highway. This means that if the number of users increase on our network, there will be a higher possibility of reduced speeds in your service. There can be other factors that can affect your experience, for example cell site changes, foliage, construction, population changes, and interference. The great news is that 5G is just around the corner, which will provide you better indoor coverage and data speeds that were only limited to our imagination. DavidR_VZW

Hi,

Is there a new working link to submit a request for this? The old one doesn't work. Thanks!

The page hasn't changed, lukedwards. I just tried it and it's still working properly. What happened when you attempted using it? EricW_VZW

Hi - is there anyway to tell if a new tower is in the process of being installed or in the works for an area?  We just purchased property in rural NC (Tusquittee Rd NE of Hayesville, NC) and there is no tower in range but there are new homes going in so service will be in demand.  I would like to know if there is going to be service soon or planned for the future.  Thank you - Holly
