Please help me decide if I should switch to one of the new plans.

I've been following the boards and reading as much info as possible. The discount does not carry over. Your access fee will be $20 on the new plan. MiiHere means the $15 access fee is $40 minus the $25 discount or net $15. The discount is not a device discount, but a discount on the monthly access fee. That is where you are getting confused and that is why it does not carry over. My numbers are correct.

ON the new plan, your bill will go up $10 and you will get 2GB extra data. The $50 device discount does not carryover to the new plan.

I think this is a question a lot of us are trying to figure out. What will the discounts be on the new plan.

New bill could be:

$80 - 12GB of data

$20 - Line Access Fee

$11 - Insurance

$28 - Device

$198 + tax

$80 - 12GB of data

$15 - Line Access Fee

$11 - Insurance

$28 - Device

$188 + tax (current plan price that just adds an extra 2GB of data)

Is it worth the risk?

However I am trying to confirm that he is on the new verizon plan with 6GB of data or more. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee, but that reads me to me like he has the new verizon plan and is still saving $25 on his month to month discount.

How did you confirm this? Someone else posted the discount did carry over. The lack of guarantee is what is driving me nuts. Did you personally switch and not receive the discount anymore?

Where are you getting this $15 per line idea? I have only seen $20 or $40...nothing about $15.

It is choice 1, discounts do not carry over. Unless this person really needs the extra 2 GB for $10, he or she should stick with More a Everything to keep the lower monthly access fee.

That is how it reads to me too, which would be great, but seems too good to be true. I can't just go in a store and ask b/c I don't believe they really know the answer and they tend to make up stuff as they go along. :smileyhappy:

The line access fee is regularly $40 and with the Edge discount of $25 it is $15. I realize you have it down as a device discount which is inaccurate. The discount is actually off the line access. It's still the same price either way you slice it though.

I would like to know how you have confirmed the discount not carrying over, please.

My bill does not show a line access fee discount, though. It shows a $40 per line access fee. The discount reads "$25 SP Device Payment Discount" which leads me to believe the discount may follow the device.

Directly from Verizon. It is on the monthly access fee NOT the device. If you switch you will be burned.

The monthly line access charges vary depending on your calling plan.

For lines on The MORE Everything Plan^SM using the device payment program:

Active smartphone lines on MORE Everything Plans up to 4 GB, your monthly access charge is $25. However, it will show up on your bill as a $40 charge with an offsetting $15 credit.

Active smartphone lines on MORE Everything Plans 6 GB and higher have a $15 monthly access charge. However, it will show up on your bill as a $40 charge with an offsetting $25 credit.

Active basic phone lines on the MORE Everything Plan have a $20 monthly access charge. However, it will show up on your bill as a $30 charge with an offsetting $10 credit.

I think it's also confusing because someone said they are still getting the $25 discount. Though the bill that generates next month might not reflect that.

The correct answer is zero, of course. That rep probably gets less sales, and makes less than the ones who gave the other misinformed answers.

I'm now keeping a tally on how many Verizon Reps tell you something different:

1 Discount is still $25

2 Discount is now $20

2 Discount is now $0

I just got off the phone with a Verizon Rep who seemed seasoned. We chatted about the previous More Everything plans, Verizon Edge plans and the new plans and she was well versed and knowledgeable in all areas.

She confirmed the website is having issues with giving the right amount for the line access fees; for instance it made my 2 year contract phone $20 which I know it will remain at $40.

She also confirmed that on the new plans you don't get a month 2 month discount, BUT that's because it's just considered an add a line for $20. So the line access fee for a phone out of contract is $20.

Dang. I just realized I should have asked about the line access fee for customers already within an Edge agreement where their discount is $25 or $15.

No, I was just confirming I still had the $25 line access fee discount on the More Everything plan. I have not moved to the new plans because I would get less data the same amount I currently pay AND my line access fees would have increased on 3 lines.
