I reached out to Verizon today to disconnect a line that I have. It was a "pay the full price of the phone by month for two years, but no contract" kind of line. I paid off the remaining amount due on the phone before I reached out to them. I'm disconnecting this line because it was my husband's phone, and he died in November. It was suggested to me that "instead of disconnecting, I could sell the Upgrade Eligible line to another user, and I would get up to $100 back, and they would get $50 and a line with no initiation fee". Initially this was suggested for a family member, but I don't have anyone in need of a phone line. They either already have them, or are too young to get one (not setting up a phone for my 7 yr old!). Is this legit? I was told I could post this on social media or craigslist and simply call Verizon when I have the person to transfer it to.
Seemed weird to me, but the conversation had already taken me twice as long as I had for it, and I just needed it to end.
