I just got a Nexus 6p and instead of getting a VM notification in the status bar, I get a text message with a string of characters and numbers. How do I get the status bar notification back?
ChrisKons we certainly want to help you change your notification status. I’m not familiar with the 6p. Can you confirm that is the device make/model?DeloresK_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the Correct Answer button under my response. Yes it is the Google Nexus 6p. It's the latest Google phone.
Let's get those working properly, ChrisKons. Are the other fuctions on the device working like calls, text, and data? Are you using regular voicemail or Visual Voicemail?TimothyS_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the "Correct Answer" button under my response. Everything works fine. I'm using regular voice mail. It's just that I get a text notification of a voice mail instead of on the status bar
Was this ever resolved? I have the Nexus 6P and I also get those weird text messages, both when I get a voicemail and when I delete one.
You should sign into your MyVerizon account online from a computer and navigate to the Block Services section. In there you should block the Visual Voicemail feature. This will stop the text messages as right now the system thinks you have visual voicemail. The Nexus 6p isn't capable of using the Visual Voicemail application and can only support the basic non-visual voicemail from Verizon Wireless.
I tried, but the only service block I have available is for Premium Visual Voice Mail and it is blocked:
