I switched my service in March from AT&T to Verizon.......big mistake. I was told in the store that I would be able to get the BOGO offer of $650 if I traded in the old phones to put toward a new Samsung. Also I Should bring in my last bill from AT&T and they would take care of that for me. Well my last bill came in and I took it to the Verizon store thinking all was ok. Then I get a collection notice for $568 from AT&T because the bill had not been taken care of. When I contacted the store they advised that the money that should have gone to pay the last bill was credited to my Verizon account which caused me to not have a bill for a month and then a lower bill the next and since they did that I would have to pay the AT&T bill myself. My issue is I was never told it was either/or; either apply as a Verizon credit OR pay the AT&T bill. I even asked the service rep three times "after I leave here today I will not owe AT&T anything?" his answer was "that is correct". He NEVER told me that the credit he was applying to my account would leave me owing AT&T, if he had I would have said no. I would have rather paid the normal two months worth of Verizon bills and not had to come up with $568 at one time like I have to do now.
I'm not sure if this was a lack of training on Verizon's part or a total lie and deception to get me to switch my service; I'm leaning toward the later. I feel that this Verizon employee deliberately lied to me and I feel this $568 AT&T bill should be something Verizon should be responsible for. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and checking to see if there is any legal action I could take to get my money back. Because as of now I am out $568, traded in a phone I loved for one I HATE, and my bill is $28 higher than it was with AT&T and $27 more than they said it would be per month. AND you better believe as soon as I can I will be switching back to AT&T, their coverage is not as good where I live but at least they never duped me out of $568!
