I just bought an iphone 4 off of my sister and I was wondering if I could put my $50 monthly plan on this phone.

The iPhone 4 is a smartphone and will require a prepaid smartphone plan. The monthly plans are either $60 for 2 GB of data or $70 for 4 GB.
It sounds like you currently have a prepaid basic phone monthly plan and is incompatible with the iPhone 4.
