Hello, Community.
Hoping to get some thoughts on the following. I have been with Verizon for 18 years. In that time, we have only upgraded our phones four times. (Learning that this may not be what Verizon would like for us to do. Other than loyally paying my bill each month for 18 years, I don't seem to be a "revenue producer" for them since I am not always buying new phones.) I am wondering why "NEW" Verizon customers are able to get FREE phones, but I am not.
So, if I cancel my Verizon service and then sign back up, will I be able to get "FREE" phones for my new lines? We have five lines. I have contacted Verizon sales, customer service, and was even transferred to technical support at one point (still don't know why). Hours on the phone trying to see why I can't get some free upgrades, but just get the run around. I am not trying to get new models of phones. I am perfectly fine getting older models that are listed as "FREE" on the Verizon web site. I understand that those "FREE" listing are kind of a bait and switch; "Get this free, IF you do this, this, and this!" But why not make those available to loyal customers who are eligible for an upgrade.
Just doesn't seem to make sense why a new customer has more options than someone who has been a loyal customer for 18 years.
Other than losing our numbers, what are some of the other issues I might run into?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
(Although if I cancel, maybe I should just call it good with Verizon and give T-Mobile or AT&T a chance. They are offering even newer models than I want from Verizon; for FREE.)
