Phone service Mexico

I have a Galaxy 5s thru Verizon loaner program and transferred # before leaving US. Cannot makenor get calls while here. (What use is intl help # that they provide?) Wifi works when available but there isn't even a phone symbol or strength bar indicator at top of screen. Not in a remote area.Friends w ATT service having no problems.

Did you set default to GSM roaming?

Settings> Mobile Networks> Network Mode> GSM/UMTS.

Thanks, already tried. Device just shows that it is dialing the number but never connects. Just dead air. There should be some sort of indicator of mobile service adjacent to the wireless indicator icon. Nothing! But thanks again for quick response.

Are you using the correct country code phone number format for dialing the numbers?
