A friend of mine has a SIM card phone under Verizon but has used all her talk minutes (So she cannot dial or receive calls) Yet she still receives calls from a restricted number. How is this possible? Her late husband passed away a month and 1/2 ago and she believes it is him since this started happening after his passing. I would like to put her mind at rest with an explanation if I can. Any thoughts or answers? Thanks.

Verizon's coverage must be really good to be able to be used up in heaven (or down in the other place depending on the person )
Has your friend answered the call? Maybe it is an automated call from Verizon letting the person know they are over their minutes and seeing if they wanted to purchase more.. Until they answer it, I guess they will believe what they want to believe.

I suppose I forgot to mention that. Yes she answers the call every time but it is silent on the other end. It is eerie for sure, but it will upset her every time so I'm just wanting to help out by giving her a different explanation than "its a phantom call."

Can she purchase more minutes, and if so, will the calls stop? I will have to do a search to see if I can find anything more about the restricted calls.

She is waiting on a paycheck to get more minutes. I guess we'll find out if the calls afterwards. And I've tried doing research myself on restricted calls but so far I've come up short with anything regarding this problem

It could be anyone that's blocked their number ... often times it's telemarketers.

This does happen from time to time with prepaid customers. A call is recieved from a restricted number and when answered is nothing but dead air, and then there is no record of the call in the recent calls log. This can be resolved by calling tech support. They can fix the issue by refreshing some settings in the switch. It is helpful to mark the calls so the tech rep can see which ones they are. You can do this by calling ### right after you recieve a restricted call.
