no prepaid on convoy 3

I went to the Brandon florida Verizon store last week with my broken Samsung convoy 2, could not be fixed so I inquired about the equipment warranty I've been paying for. It would pay for an new convoy 3 I just had to pay the deductable. The guy at the store told me the Convoy 3 could be used on a prepaid plan. SDo I ordered and paid for the replacement Convoy 3. Now I have tried to switch my current Verizin plan to prepaid and the customer service group, 3 different people tells me its not compatable. So now I'm stuck with my old plan. Exactly why will the convoy 3 not work on prepaid?

Was the Convoy 2 on a contract? Are you out of that contract? The Convoy 3 can be used on Prepaid, but contract phones have to be out of contract to use on Prepay, and if that Convoy 2 isn't paid off either through ETF or being out of contract, it cannot be used.

Why can't a Convoy 2 or 3 be used with Verizon Pre Pay?

I'm told they can't. Even a new Convoy 3.
