Very shocked that Verizon blatantly falsely advertises that you can pick up your order at a Verizon store completely  "free" and that there's "no additional charges"  to do so. Which isn't the case, what Verizon does is charge you $25 PER DEVICE (refundable) to your complete order and pickup at a Verizon store IF you live in a state that doesn't require you pay the taxes for cells phones upfront! I've even gone back and checked the fine print and in their "terms and conditions" and it definitely does NOT say ANYTHING about the $25 deposit requirement! Furthermore, I have had more than Verizon sales rep give me completely different reasons and explanations for the required deposit. Had 1 rep say it’s NOT Verizon requiring the $25 per device deposit requirement that it was my own state requiring it ( LOL). Another rep said it had to do with my credit and approved financing terms (LOL). Then another rep said it was the store I was picking up at requiring it. So obviously even their own employees at Verizon have no idea what’s what!!

This is news to me also.  I don't know if this is like the thing some businesses do where they ask for your credit card number in advance to hold a reservation or whatever, just in case you don't go through with a deal, so they can bill in case you skip out.  In any case, if you were told the $25 charge is refundable, I'd be asking to have that refunded.
