Cannot verify identity

I spent two hours online trying to order phones for my family and encountered a few problems. Finally, the order was processed and placed for four new iPhone 16s.  We were waiting for the call from the local store to pick them up tonight.  I got an email from Verison that the order was canceled.   I called and got the fraud department.  After several times waiting on hold for over 25 minutes, I was told that they could not verify my identity.  I asked why and what information they needed and was told it was impossible to verify and that I could purchase a prepaid phone.  I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told it would be the same answer.  I then called Verizon to verify that my number porting would not occur, as I did not want my current phones to stop working.  I was told that there was nothing connected to my number, but they did not verify that the porting was not happening.  I hope I do not have issues with my four family phones due to this issue.  The Fraud department was not helpful and left me with no other course of action.  I will stay with my old phone service until I can find another option.

Sorry to hear about the ordering problem.  As for making sure your numbers don't get ported, contact your current carrier and tell them to cancel the port, in case they still have something going on their end.  If your carrier has some kind of security feature to prevent fraudulent port outs, enable it in your account.
