$10/mo discount offer

Yesterday was the final straw.  Despite years of constant plan changes, price hikes, and reduction in benefits I have stuck it out with Verizon, but after the abysmal customer service experience yesterday, I'm done.

I was all set to switch to a difference provider a couple of weeks ago and went only to get my pin to be able to port my numbers.  That is when I got a pop up that said if I stayed with Verizon, they were offering a $10 per month discount for each line on my plan for the next 12 months.  With the 6 lines I have that made me double think things and I decided to stay put.  I selected to obtain the discount and in the next couple of days I received both and email and text message for how to have the discount applied.   I've attached  a screenshot of the exact email I received. Screenshot 2024-12-29 124519.jpg

So with this information I called the number like advised and the customer service rep gave me the run around for close to an hour.  I explained to them very clearly that this was a very specific offer that was provided to me because I was leaving Verizon and was the only reason I was staying.  They first tried to say that the $10/month discount was for autopay (which I have been enrolled in for years) and then after they saw I already was enrolled in autopay, they tried to claim that this must have been a for an old plan type, despite the fact that I had just received the email and text information and hadn't changes plans in that time frame.  Basically when all was said and done they claimed that what was sent was a mistake and I wasn't eligible for anything.  So I lost an hour of my time and Verizon lost all of my respect.

With the improvements that competitors have made to their networks over the last couple of years and the benefits they offer their customers, Verizon has lost all its value.

Sure hope someone at Verizon can get things straightened out.  It's your decision on whether to port out, but from my own experience and from reading other threads in these forums, the grass is not always greener elsewhere.  The competition charges in about the same range as Verizon, so short of going to a budget carrier or using the prepaid service with whomever you choose, it's not going to be much cheaper at the other places.  If your phone supports dual SIM and is eSIM capable, at least do the free trial service with the other guys first.

CS is now primarily outsourced overseas with all 3 big carriers, which is unfortunate because I'm sure you remember days before when Verizon's customer support was within the company itself.
