$850 Trade in credit

Hi all, so I just got off the phone with a representative and I inquired about the $850 trade in value credit when starting a line with Verizon.
I find it problematic that The in-store representatives fail to inform you that although you are not in a 2 year contract, your $850 will be applied throughout a 36 month term. IF YOU OPT to go with a different carrier, the credit is then void. Any one else having a problem with this?

That's just how it is.  If you check the fine print, the details of it being paid out over 36 months is in there.  The other guys run their promos the same way, where it is paid out over 24-36 months and if you leave early, cancels the credits.

As for the trade in value, I'd have to think that's up to $850, not that everyone signing up for the promotion is automatically getting $850.  If your trade-in is several years old, a budget model phone, not functioning, or is otherwise only good for recycling the parts...you'd get far less.
