Hello, due to some unfortunate personal and financial problems I don't know if I will be able to continue my service, but I still owe $499 on my device.
I would like to just end the service if possible so I'm not really looking for any mobile financial assistance programs or anything, and am just curious if I return the device or something, will I be able to cancel my service, and not owe any more?
Thank you...

Hi, sorry to hear of your troubles and hope things get better soon!
In a nutshell, if your device is tied to a contract (your bill has something about X out of X months verbiage in it), then terminating the service is considered breaking the contract and you would then be immediately responsible for the $499 remaining on the device, plus potential early termination penalty fees. Devices cannot be returned if you've had them over 30 days. Might you be able to get someone to help you out?
