I have recently received notice from the credit bureaus that I have a collection on my reports, but I have no Verizon Accounts. My credit report is showing a collection from Verizon Wireless- South for $3,379 dollars. I am asking Verizon to contact me so we can remove this fraudulent account off my record.

Since initially raising this concern in January 2024, I have filed a claim and included all requested documents. Despite this, I received no response from Verizon. When I contacted customer service, I was not provided with any information and was informed that my claim had been denied without explanation.
Following this, I formally requested a verification of the alleged debt by mail. I sent this request via Certified Mail through the U.S. Postal Service and received confirmation that my letter was delivered. However, Verizon has yet to provide the requested verification of debt or the supporting documents.
This account is fraudulent, and Verizon’s lack of transparency and failure to respond appropriately raises significant concerns about their handling of this matter.

I have contacted the Verizon Wireless Fraud Department in the past on two separate occasions. I will call again on Monday. Last time I called they refused to disclose any information on the account and therefore I do not have the information required to file a police report. I instead submitted a Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft report. I was informed by the Verizon Wireless Fraud Department that my claim for Identity Theft was not honored. I will call again Monday and will post the outcome to this blog in hopes of having a resolution to this issue. My original complaint Verizon Claim Number 295757. If you can please look at this claim and provide me answers it would be helpful. Thank you Cait.

I did contact Customer Service and talked to the Fraud Department. They sent an email and a form that I have filled out to request a resolution and a verification of debt. I have included the documents requested and attached the supporting evidence to the request. I hope that this fraudulent account is removed from my credit report soon. Thank you for your quick responses and for encouragement in contacting the Fraud Department to seek out a resolution before I took legal action. Thanks again, as soon as I get a decision or any action is taking regarding this matter I will post the results.
John
