Fraudulent calls to Verizon

Getting texts about calling Verizon

I’ve had Verizon wireless for about 10 years. Currently we have three phones on our account. My account is the primary. All billing and other account related things are tied to my phone number and always have been.

Within the last week, my husband has gotten multiple text on his number thanking him for calling Verizon and please rate the call with whatever agent. He has never once called Verizon for any reason.

These texts are coming directly from Verizon’s 899000 number. Last week after the first few texts, I called Verizon to ask what the heck was going on and they basically told me yes they have a record of him calling asking to lower the bill. Yet they couldn’t give me the any details about the call such as the caller ID or location of the caller, which I know they have that information.

So supposedly they escalated it to some department. Basically told us yes we believe he called us, but if you don’t think so then change all your passwords and we will get back to you with results of our investigation. I highly doubt that will happen.

But now it has happened again today. He is sick as a dog in bed and hasn’t so much as touched his phone except for checking messages.

Anyone have any idea what the deal is? I first I thought maybe it might be one of those bill lowering services, but he’s never signed up for anything like that. I am concerned that they think he is calling them. It may seem harmless, but it’s annoying and I’d like to figure out what is going on.
