Personal to Corporate Line Transfer Difficulty

I am having a difficult time trying to transfer my VZ personal line to a  VZ corporate account (to replace the line they gave me) and from what I’m told the issue isn’t on the personal VZ side, it’s on corporate VZ side, and the corporate side can’t seem to figure it out. I’m told my corporate mobility team has no option to transfer the line when I send them the transfer request. Their resolution is for me to port my number to a personal AT&T account, creating a new account with them with no idea of what the fees and ramifications of that is, and then attempt to port the number from AT&T to the VZ corporate account. This seems unnecessary and ill advised and like no one involved knows how to resolve this properly. With no issues on my side, and my corporate mobility reps getting no where with VZ corporate department, does anyone know how to fix this mess without jumping over what seems like unnecessary hoops?

Background: My corporate employer required me to get a company phone. I previously had a company phone for over 11 years and brought the line (Virginia number, where I work) to my personal account to keep with me while I changed employers. The phone my employer sent me has a phone number from another state CA and if they are requiring me to have a phone I want to send the 11 year old number back to corporate ownership and get rid of the CA number.

Out of curiosity, is the line in question on prepaid service?  Because if it is, then I'm willing to bet the problem is that it must be converted to postpaid before you can move it to a business account.  Prepaid lines are not eligible for Transfer Your Service.

Thanks for the response. No, the personal line being transferred is not a prepaid line. I have met all requirements on the personal line side for transfer. Have checked and double checked that and have been assured there is no issue on the personal line for transfer.

You're welcome.  The only other thing I can think of - and I'm purely speculating, because I don't work in the telecommunications industry - is there is something which doesn't allow your current workplace to have the Virginia number because of an area code restriction.  Unfortunately, the CS agents who hang out in these forums have posted elsewhere that they cannot access business accounts.
