Verizon Mobile Project - Protects you with Refurbished phones?

I am shocked to find out that the Verizon Mobile Protect plan may send you a refurbished phone though the Verizon Mobile protect plan. We spend so much money on these phones and then on top of that spend $17 a month for "protection" and they might send you a refurbished phone as a replacement? That's insane!! Is there anything a user can do to prevent Verizon from sending a refurbished one or one with replacement parts? If you read the fine print it states you may receive a refurbished phone or a phone with non-original parts. I'm mortified and currently have an order for a replacement in and don't know what I will receive.

My opinion only, but that verbiage was put there to prevent the insurance company from always having to provide a completely new phone of the same make/model in every replacement claim case.  Never mind that it's cheaper and any company has to make money to stay in business.  If the phone in question is discontinued, or has been out for a few years, there could be no more available new inventory.  It's not that much different than getting into a wreck and having the body shop replace parts with after-market stuff.

The phone in question is an iPhone 14 pro max, so I can only hope that they still have new ones in inventory since it's only last generation.

I hope so too for your sake.  Sorry to hear something happened to your previous iPhone 14 PM though. โ˜น๏ธ
