Verizon sent me to collections for not returning my equipment—but I DID return it, and I have proof. I even have Verizon chat logs where a rep told me my account would be updated to reflect the return.
I only found out about the collections account through my credit monitoring service. No call, no email—just a drop in my credit score. It was first sent to IC Systems, who told me to mail them the proof. I did that on 4/17. I called them today (5/29) to follow up, and now they say they no longer have the account and to call Verizon.
I called Verizon, and their automated system says the account is now with Credit Control LLC. I’ve been trying to reach them, but can only leave voicemails—no one ever picks up.
Meanwhile, Verizon won’t speak to me because they say it’s in collections. I’m stuck in this awful loop where no one will take responsibility, and I can’t even send my proof to anyone who will look at it. This $214 in collection—for something I don’t even owe—will ruin my credit for 7 years.
How do I get someone at Verizon to actually talk to me or review the documents? I feel like they just keep passing it off to new agencies and ignoring the issue.
