I have paid off my iPhone and had the account for three years and Verizon won't unlock it. I've been trying for days and keep getting the runaround, starting with all sorts of offers to use while I'm overseas. I just want it unlocked and it's required under FCC regulations. Has anyone had luck getting their phone unlocked by filing a complaint with the FCC?

I certainly understand the frustration with having a locked device, jbs60. Most devices are unlocked automatically after 60-days post activation on our network, but it sounds like this wasn't the case. I would be happy to take a look into this, and end that runaround. Please be on the lookout for a private message from us for help.

I'm wondering if you purchased your iPhone from a 3rd party source, and not directly through Verizon? That can definitely cause problems with the automatic unlocking after 60 days, because the purchase wasn't tied directly to your Verizon account. But to answer your question: yes, so long as you have plenty of evidence proving you are the rightful, original owner of the phone.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
