Cell phone coverage

My family has been a Verizon customer for probably 10 years or more.  Cell phone service inside our home has never been good but in past was always able to go to certain areas of house and make and receive calls.   Within last years I was able to switch my cell phones to WiFi calling and that  fixed my in house calls . Up until recently  when outside my house in yard/garden service was weak but always  was able to make and receive calls , but now most of the time ‘no service’ or ‘SOS only’ when in yard/garden . What has caused this? What can you do to get my coverage back?

We definitely value your decade of loyalty, Rp38. I know that I rely on my device to work wherever life takes make, especially when I am at home. We are here to help. It sounds like Wi-Fi calling was a great find to help out with coverage indoors at home, and the Wi-Fi probably doesn't extend too far outside your home. When specifically did this issue start happening? How far away from home must you travel before service improves? What are the nearest cross streets and city where this is happening?

Also, this video may give some insights on how factors outside our control can impact the wireless signal: https://www.verizon.com/support/troubleshooting-wireless-signal-coverage-video/

 answers to your questions below:

When specifically did this issue start happening?

I know it was better last spring/summer/fall because I work around my garden and yard a lot then and always able to receive on my cell phone my daily calls from my 2 sons while outside. But earlier this year (mid April)  when I start working my garden/yard they would call and they say call goes right to voice mail (sometimes worrying them because I do not answer).I started checking my phone while outside and noticed ‘SOS only’ or ‘no service’ almost every the time I check it. Since not outside working in winter(cold months) I cannot say if the problem existed sooner than April.

How far away from home must you travel before service improves?

When I do drive places away from my house I rarely use the phone while driving so cannot say exactly how far before improves. I know recently was getting service at Chevy dealership (corner of oh305 and oh45 in champion, oh…3.8 miles from my house) and cell service was fine.

What are the nearest cross streets and city where this is happening?

I live close to the corner of Prentice Rd NW and Oak Hill Dr in Champion(Warren), Ohio

I watch the video you sent and all that is said makes sense (I am a retired IT professional). We do live in ‘out in the country’  but my issue is that you would expect that as technology improves things would get better but they have gotten worse. I feel Verizon (with their changes and adding more customers) should not reduce the service of existing (long time customers).       As a  IT professional we were never allowed to implement new features without verifying they did not negatively affect existing features….I guess that is not the case anymore !

So what can you do for me at my location to get me back to the way it was!

I work in a pretty big hospital. I (along with other coworkers) loose service when I get to my office and have to walk outside and restart my phone to regain service. I am now missing calls and text from nurses and physicians and affecting my performance. This was reported as problem via our hospital administration. Verizon stated they were working on a fix and it has only gotten worse. I have been with Verizon for well over 15 years and this is beyond frustrating given the size and reputation of Verizon. The area in question is 45429. Please address the problem. I am about to transfer service.

Mine as well long time customer I can barley stream TV since around April it's gotten horrible trying to check other options. I called and sat on phone with Verizon for 2 hrs and got no answers as to what the issue is.

Also long time customer and I'm paying way to much money to have my service suddenly get worse. Since April ish I can barley get a show to stream and I never had these issues before. And I thought 5g was suppose to be faster? My service gets worse when 5g comes on. I sat on the phone with Verizon for over two hours witch accomplished nothing. Looking for another carrier.

Same issue here. Loyal Verizon customer for many many years. Recently (within last year) cellular service is terrible. Around the house,  when driving, always 1 bar or SOS on all of my 5 lines. All my friends are complaining too. My sister has another GSM provider and when we compared speeds and signal in many places her phone was able to make 250mbps down for most of the time even in woods and 2 of my phones anything between 8-16. This is ridiculous.  I understand temporary issues  i understand terrible service but not for top dollars!  Have to finally find time and move on to another ISP. Very not happy with Verizon recently!

Both phones not connected to home wireless.  Phone on the left $270 for 5 lines   phone on the right $125 for 5 lines.

Half the price for "bit" faster service.

Hello, urbiusz, I'm sorry to hear you're running into an issue with service. You mentioned an issue with data speeds. Are you noticing anything with voice and/or text? I understand you're having some trouble in your home area. How far away form your home do you have to travel before service improves?

Correct, all services are impacted from data, voice, txt.  For most of the time i have one sometimes two bars and SOS. There is no way to have a normal conversation anymore. When i moved to Verizon long years ago i had 4 out of 5 bars in my basement. Now i have one if i am lucky next to the window.  I am traveling a lot in NJ area and i do not remember when i had a call without a call drop.  I thought maybe there is an issue with my phone but i check other lines with different phones and they have same issues.  All my friends (that are with Verizon) are complaining.  I know 5+ people that are researching market right now.

Same as everyone else in this post. Been with Verizon for probably 10-15 years and always had been happy with the service. I live in rural Iowa so i understand there are going to be poor spots but lately the occasional poor has changed to the occasional good spot.

A year ago i could drive to work down a major highway and stream music just fine the whole way. Service wasn't perfect but we had 2 to 3 bars the whole way to town.

Now I have barely 1 bar and streaming cuts out several times.

We have 4 devices on my plan, android and iphone, and all of them see the same poor coverage.

I have the same problem. I’ve been with Verizon 26 years and have multiple lines. Over the past year, our cell service and our LTE Home service have been deteriorating here in southwest Ohio. I thought it was my phone and Verizon sent me a new phone and later Assurion sent me a replacement. No better. New SIM cards have not helped. I tried a jet pack; it was worse. I have had the LTE Home Internet for several years and now they say they don’t offer it here anymore and while I can keep mine (when it works, it’s decent), they can’t send me a replacement router even if they think that’s the issue. I recently have heard that Verizon switches towers/lines/whatever away from less-populated areas like where I am and maybe that’s why our cell and Internet are getting so much worse as time goes on. I work full time from home and have for 30 years. I need decent service. I never used to get the SOS error but I get it all the time now and so does my son, with a 13maxPro. Even contractors working on our house have noticed that the cell service here is worse just over the past few months. We don’t have these problems anywhere else, just here. I understand that living in a rural area means slower Internet but I’ve lived here 30 years, had Verizon for 26 years, and it’s never been this bad. I hate to change all my family members’ lines since they live elsewhere and don’t have these issues but this is untenable. I’ve spent many hours talking to Verizon Tech Support, Assurion Tech Support, and others at Verizon and they try to help but nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

We're sorry to read about your experience and we want to take a look at the service concern. Have there been any changes in your area as far as construction or other changes? What kind of signal does your device show when it does have service? ~Peter

I'm definitely having similar issues. I used to swear by Verizon and have also been a customer for a long time. In this past year it just gets worse and worse. Especially when dealing with 5G. We were forced to get 5G and it's worse than 3G at this point. I'm ready to leave Verizon and go elsewhere because there is no excuse for this. At all.

As for when it happens, it's not just at home, it's just randomly throughout the day on random days no matter where I'm at. It's such a shame. And it's embarrassing.
