Expired rebate card

Verizon and Citi Prepaid Card Service made my funds unavailable, in other words stole my rebate! I would prefer a rebate check over the prepaid card. I assumed the prepaid card followed the same rules as gift cards where it is illegal to reclaim the funds!! Ridiculous policy!

Yes I called the Citi Prepaid Card services. They can do nothing. I even took it up the chain to the customer support team. Very upset right now!!

Same here. $500 out. If they had cut me a check to begin with it wouldn't have been an issue. I activated the stupid cards before the expiration and saw this on the t's and c's on the site they made me log into.

EXPIRATION DATE: Your Citi Prepaid Card expires on the date embossed on the front of the card. You may not use your Citi Prepaid Card after the expiration date. If you do not use the full amount on the card by the Card Expiration Date, you can call customer service to request a new card (the "Replacement Card"). Subject to applicable law, the available funds may be subject to Account Maintenance Fees as outlined in these Terms of Use and Fee Schedule. Subject to applicable law and for valid reasons, we reserve the right to decline to issue a replacement card."

Figured I could ask for a replacement after as using these cards is a pain in the rear and no way would I be able to spend all $500 in two days. (Plus I had just done this with my expired Coopervision rebate - charged me $6.95 for a replacement card). I turned my rebate in on 9/1/2014, card was mailed 9/19/2014 and not even six months later Verizon took my money back. I'm so frustrated.

What exactly was stolen? Literacy? The expiration date is on the card is clear as day. This isn't a Verizon issue.

Funny that you are asking about my literacy when apparently you didn't read the excerpt posted from the T's and C's I have that says "If you do not use the full amount on the card by the Card Expiration Date, you can call customer service to request a new card (the "Replacement Card")." So pretty much I was told that I could get a new card.

I'm sorry, but according to your first satement, you were not told that you could not get a new card.

You said yourself that they could decline it.

Make sure to re-read YOUR statement before point the fingers.

On a sidenote, If they charge you to replace your card then they were giving you the option to get a new one. Verizon is not at fault here. They did give you a way to get a new one.

I have the same experience with the rebate card. I still have > $300 balance in the card & couldnot use the money after expiration date. I have called Verizon & the card CS, but they said the money is gone on the expiration date. It is a bad experience with Verizon!! I signed up for applying the rebate in the phone payment but they insisted to send the card. End up, I lost the money! Please be careful of this kind of thing..!!
