I have two lines on my Verizon cell plan and bill is in my name. I want to obtain transcripts of messages from my husband's line. Is this possible with or without a court order?
You would need a court order for Verizon to be able to provide you the content of text messages. And they likely would only have the last 10 days' worth of messages.
This is possible with a court order.
Keep in mind text messages are available on Verizon's servers for only the past ~10 days or so. Anything further back than that and you would be out of luck. Also keep in mind the court will not grant your petition without a compelling reason for doing so. Not trusting your husband isn't a compelling enough reason for the court to violate a persons right to privacy.
One other thing to keep in mind. If your husband has an iPhone and utilizes iMessage with another person on an iPhone, these are not messages to which Verizon has access. iMessage is a service provided by Apple.
The same can be said for messages thru Facebook, Skype, etc...
Thanks a bunch. This is what I needed to know!
