Phone for Christmas and delayed activation

I am wanting to upgrade my daughter's phone for Christmas but do not want to activate it until Christmas day as it is a gift. My question is, can I buy it online and receive it but not activate it until then? Also I would be buying it using the device payment plans. I do know that I would still be responsible for the payment on the phone itself. Thank you!

Yes, you could upgrade the line and activate the device on Christmas. You have 45 days from the date of purchase to activate your device, after 45 days the device payment agreement will automatically cancel. *Cheyenne
