Hello,
I'd like to report a dead zone in Philadelphia (19125). A very significant part of my neighborhood seems to get absolutely zero coverage from Verizon, and at all times of day. My wife is on T Mobile and seems to get much better coverage in this area.
I'm completely at my wit's end and wondering how such a populated part of a city could get so little coverage so consistently.

It is probably also worth noting that when I had a Verizon tech in the house this past week to assist in internet installation, he also had no cell service anywhere near the house.

hughpedley, we understand how vital it is for you to have service at all times and where you need it most. We will be pleased to assist you in figuring out what is causing the issue with your service. Is the issue only happening inside of your home? What specific services are being impacted? JacobG_VZW

Hey Jacob,
This is happening all over the surrounding couple of blocks, not just in my house. There's no 4G/LTE, rare 3G data, and usually 1-2 bars or no cell coverage at all. Phone calls have poor quality and are often dropped.
I have a Samsung Note 9, but this is also happening on all of my family's phones as well (iPhone 12s).

Thank you for those helpful details, hughpedley. We understand a technicians was there last week seeing the same thing, but how long has this been going on in the area?

This has been going in on this area for at least the last month and a half, and has been confirmed happening on friend's and family's phones. I'm not sure when this started.

I also live in 19125 and have the same issue, as does my wife and pretty much our entire block that has verizon wireless. Our phones are basically useless when not connected to wifi because there is no 4g service at all on our block. I am on the 2600 block of E Dauphin St.
I know multiple people on our block have called in to complain and so far verizon has done nothing to solve the problem. This has been an ongoing issue for the past year and many have either already switched carriers are will be changing carriers soon if something isn't done to resolve this issue.

Oh,no! Dealing with service issues can certainly be a headache, especially if you are having dead-zone issues. The last thing we want is to lose your service. When did the issue start (did it work before in the area; when did you notice it)? What recent changes have you made (moved, new phone, software update, etc.)? ~Gilbert

It's been an issue for the past year, at least. I have a S20 and my wife has a S10, we both have the same issue. I also just purchased a Gizmo watch for my son and the watch gets almost no signal on our block. When at home we are always on wifi but without a wifi connection it's basically unusable. Since the Gizmo watch relys on a cellular network connection it is almost unusable at home.
I know from discussions with neighbors that they share similar frustrations and have the same network coverage issues as us. Multiple people have attempted to contact verizon support but so far no solutions have been offered.
Can we have a wireless support rep come out and see for themselves? It doesn't matter what device you are using, if they have a verizon phone they will have the same issue.

Dmick, the information you provided is appreciated. Please share with me the zip code and cross streets where you are experiencing this? Also, confirm for me how far do you have to travel before service improves? -Rodney

Zip code is 19125 and my block is on E Dauphin St, between Almond St and E Thompson St. You have to walk ~4-5 blocks to get a signal. As others have stated, this has been an issue for well over a year now. One of my biggest concerns is I recently bought a Gizmo watch for my 6 year old son so we can track him on his bus route to school and his watch doesn't work in our immediate area due to the lack of signal. Obviously, this is very concerning as a parent.

The last thing that we want is for you to not be able to see where your son is. Have you tried to restart the device to see if the issue continue? What is the ZIP code where you are having these issues?~David

I am at almond and Dauphin. You have to go about six blocks away from the river for service to work. It also does not work on I-95 in this area.
This is a highly populated part of philadelphia and a major interstate. It is not related to a device or an account. There simply is no service for a giant part of a US major city. It has been this way for years and a Verizon tech told me it is because they do not have any towers near here.
verizon simply does not have coverage in this very popular section of philadelphia and all residents in this part of 19125 need to switch providers because Verizon has never taken any meaningful steps to provide wireless service to this part of the neighborhood

I live in this area. This has been an issue for the entire 4 years that I have lived here. Verizon has never done anything to resolve it.
i was told my one Verizon employee that they don’t have towers near this part of the neighborhood.
there’s just no Verizon service in this part of a philadelphia and the only option is to drop Verizon as a carrier.

That is quite strange. Our 4G Towers have quite the range. Can you confirm if this area has had a review submitted through your account? Do you have the ticket number for this Network review? *Robert

I live on the same block as this person (E Dauphin between Almond St and E Thompson St, zip code 19125) and have the EXACT same experience. *And* I’ve had Verizon techs at the house whose phones also had no service. There is absolutely no service (SOS mode) in the surrounding blocks. Please stop asking people about ways they could be causing this themselves. This is a dead zone! It has been confirmed by so many people! Please take this seriously and actually send someone to fix the service here, stop asking useless questions!

Hi! I’m also on the same block of Dauphin St. The second I leave my house my calls drop. If I’m in one half of my kitchen my calls drop. My phone doesn’t work in my backyard. It doesn’t work for about 6-7 blocks once I leave my home. Also doesn’t work until I’m about 1/2 mile down the highway on 95S. When I’m chatting with my parents they’ve come to expect if the call drops “oh you must be close to home”. I tried getting a service extender (not sure if that’s the right term) and that did not improve the situation. I work from home and this is an ENORMOUS headache. This also is a huge safety concern for me as if I had any issues in the areas identified my phone wouldn’t work for me to call for help.
I called about this issue over a year ago and really was given no solutions by the Verizon team other than “you’re in a dead zone”.

I would like to add to the above user's post. I am using an iPhone X and I cannot walk out my front door without dropping a call and losing all service. Everyone I know that uses Verizon (and Verizon only) cannot make phone call anywhere in a 5-6 block radius. "You're in a dead zone" is not a legitimate excuse for Verizon - fix your service!

Reliable service is a must and we are here to help. Allow us to gather a few more details to be on the same page. When did you first notice the service issue at home? Are you aware if anything changed with your surroundings before the problem started? ~Vic

As others have noted, this has been an issue for over a year. I know people on our block have tried to contact verizon in the past but never had any success getting the issue resolved. I'm trying again now because it's become a security concern for my son since his Gizmo watch doesn't work in our immediate area. If a tech can come out to our block, E Dauphin St between Almond St and E Thompson St, 19125 zip code, they will immediately notice the lack of reception. I'd be happy to meet with someone in person, if needed.
