Swapping Verizon Number and Google Voice Number

I currently am in process of routing my google voice number to replace my Verizon number. The google voice number is set to take effect on the 17th. If I was to port out my Verizon number at this point to Google voice, in order to keep my old number, would my google voice number take over the empty line? I want to be able to keep my old number on google voice so people can still contact me after the number swap.

Hey there, TJCDrummer, thanks for reaching out in reference to the porting process. To make sure we're on the same page, we would like to clarify what you're looking to accomplish. From what I understand, you're looking to take your existing Google Voice number and moving it to Verizon. However, you want to keep the Verizon number you have so you are looking to take your Verizon number and port that to Google voice as well. Is that correct?

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying TJCDrummer. To bring your Google Number to VZ, you'll want to review this FAQ: https://www.verizon.com/support/local-number-portability-faqs/

The first part goes over how to bring a number from another carrier to VZ and how you can begin that process. If you're planning on moving a VZ number to another service, you'd need to consult their process but also generate a Number Transfer PIN prior to doing so. The Number Transfer PIN helps prevent fraud and secures your transaction. You can learn how to generate that PIN and do any transfers using this link: https://www.verizon.com/support/port-out-faqs/
