Does anyone know if Verizon will be offering the Asus ROG phone? If no one knows, is there a place to request it?
OMG FINALLY!!! I got us an asnwer via email!!!!
The executive department of Verizon IS working getting software made for the ASUS ROG to be compatible with Verizon networks!
They are also working on offering the ASUS ROG to Verizon customers! They do not have a time frame but IT IS getting worked on!!! : D
Yayyyyy!!!!!! Thank youuuuu Executive Department!
So.... I reinquired with the executive department of Verizon... They actively tried to get ASUS to make the software to unlock VoLTE for Verizon networks for the ROG... Unfortunately, ASUS has rejected the request. So Verizon was willing but ASUS rejected.
Given the circumstances of the actions, or lack thereof, of ASUS, I am not going to change networks just to get the phone. I think this was a pretty selfish act on ASUS and therefore they do not deserve my business.
Thank you for attempting to work on it Verizon executive department. I greatly appreciate your time spent, man power, and resources used to give us a truthful answer.
Still a bummer though.
Phone arena says is does have bands 2,4,5 and 13. No CDMA but that's not an issue as long as it supports Verizon's VoLTE. I doubt Verizon will carry it anyway you'll probably have to buy it elsewhere to use on Verizon IF compatible
It says the phone is CDMA2000 Compatible in the network listing. ROG Phone | Phones | ASUS USA
Still need to VoLTE capable as CMDA is being shut down in 18 months anyway
That would be absolutely catastrophic to a lot of people though... Some people still use the old analog phones... You're saying that Verizon is going to make people upgrade or get service elsewhere?
Statistics say that 92% of customers use LTE, and the other 8% use the older network... Verizon has 145.72 million customers... That's 11.6 million customers they will be shutting out... Not to go off topic but what are they going to do for that 11.6 million customers?

Update since the phone comes next week:
I spoke to level 2 techs from Verizon on this and the answer was "umm, 50/50 chance". I was informed that tho its has the CDMA, that will no longer be used, so, thats not an option. It will do GMA, but, thats not really a "supported" data/voice channel.
I was then provided the honest answer, and, expected: Wait until its out, see if people are able to get it on the network. If so, buy it. If not, dont.
I will assume the answer will be no, since, the phone is missing the Verizon name on it, and, all the bloat-ware they want to provide. This maybe the reason i needed to move to, well, basically ANY other carrier.
The pixel doesn't have Verizon's name on it. iPhones, HTC U11 and U12 don't. The only way devices won't work on Verizon network if they haven't been certified which doesn't cost OEMs money to go through. Asking Asus they should give you an answer because if they are going through the process then that means it will be on Verizon as soon as they pass.
Hello, MATMUR16. We would definitely hate to see you go, and we apologize for any confusion. Allow us to clarify. If this device has a tray for a SIM Card, then it will likely be compatible with VoLTE bandwidth. With this device having been purchased from someone other than us, we cannot guarantee that it will be compatible with our network. As soon as you have your Device ID, you can look it up, or you can message it to us, and we can check for you. Because this device is not from us, we want to ensure we set clear expectations, this is why we aren't giving you a direct yes or no. Without all of the necessary information, we cannot know for certain. We are more than happy to specify everything as soon as we have all the necessary information. We hope this helps.

Okay so, the Asus ROG phone is being sold on eBay for between 999 to 1200 dollars. Ships straight from Taiwan (where the phone is manufactured.)
Please tell me that Verizon will be jumping on this bandwagon. If the phone does only go to another carrier, then that's where I am going.
I love Verizon and I do not EVER buy top of the line anything but I really want this phone. Really bad. If another carrier has it first, then that's where I am going.
So having my hands on the US release of the phone, I contacted VZ and they will let me know by the 31st if this will work or not. I will keep ya posted.
Nobody here wants you to leave, UWZWEROKOOL. We love you too. You'll know for certain once you have the device's IMEI number. Here's the link to confirm its compatibility with the network: https://www.verizonwireless.com/prospect/bring-your-own-device/#/checkDevice

Well I am sure you don't. But right now that phone runs a average of 1000 dollars on eBay. I am for sure not going to buy it and then try to see if it works.
I just want to know if Verizon is going to sell it/allow payments to he made on the phone, IF they offer it.
My overall question is, "Is Verizon going to offer the phone to it's customers?!"
Thank you for following up, we want to provide clarity. We currently do not have any official information confirming that the ASUS ROG phone will be offered through Verizon Wireless. Rest assured we have a wide array of great phone options that can fit your needs. Use this link as reference: https://www.verizonwireless.com/devices/.

I think it would behove Verizon to purchase a couple and send them out as betas. Yeah, we are only but a few out of 14 million customers talking about this, but this phone is exemplary in every form and manner.
When I purchase a computer, I purchase gaming computers. Why? It's because they last so much longer. They have performance cooling capabilities that increase longevity and if I wanted to game, I would have no problem doing it.
Then let's not forget the docking station capabilities as well for business use. It's a portable computer that you can carry in your pocket. You can conduct business seamlessly, connect it to do presentations, even stream video WITHOUT the device getting hot and wearing down the network adapter.
I mean come onnnn! Verizon needs to get cracking on this before, other phone providers get in on it.
Hey All - someone has got to have tried this in the last two days. Just pull out your sim card from whatever phone you had on verizon's network and put it in the asus rog phone and see if you can get some LTE service.
Anyone? Anyone tried this yet?
I did, it gives me LTE internet but cant make a call
I already know all that stuff, I just want to know how smooth it runs underload. Any crashing, overheating, more or less the feel of it or the "impression." Does it come anywhere close to any phone that you have ever used?
So far no overheating under 3dmark slingshot extreme, pubg, and fortnite both in X mode or normal. Slight random framedrops as expected. Phone sits around 115F during gameplay but even without the active cooler is runs fine.
I currently use a note 9 so camera is way better than that on launch but the fingerprint sensor can be trickier.
C'mon Verizon, every enthusiast wants this phone - it beats every other device on the market. Let's get it on VoLTE.
I don't think there is enough coverage on it and I don't believe that they really do care if they lose a few customers over a phone. A lot of people I know didn't even know about the phone until I told them and now they want it.
I am sticking to my time frame, as stated in my previous posts. All I am asking for is for them to tell us that they are working on it and give us a date of it's release for Verizon. Or at the very least, that they are working on making it available for Verizon customers.
I honestly feel bad for putting any sort of pressure on them and I honestly don't typically do this sort of thing. But I really want that phone and I am tired of seeing Apple advertisements being sent to my email. I don't like Apple, I don't want Apple, and the Android line they offer is garbage to me. Thus the only phone I am financing from them is an iPhone 6s and that is for my wife.
Actually, no I haven't got a call back from support as they were suppose to yesterday. Also I didn't get this from Amazon's BETA. I won this from ASUS's Rog arena to the NYC launch event sweepstake.
And to Verizon CS, I'm trying to access VoLTE on the phone itself. Data works fine, but when making a call it says mobile data no available. Yes it is fully up to date, patches and all. as of now, Not even an email or call back from them still. I even used the direct email supplied by the rep herself.
Ok. SInce I didn't get the call back, I called VZ and they moved it up to a T2. Could not get it to work. So nope, no support. unless you want to use it as a gaming fablet without calls
It's great to see that you're interested in getting the ASUS ROG Phone. Unfortunately, this device is currently not available through us. The following link will provide you with the full list of our available devices. We recommend checking this website on a regular basis for any updates. https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/

Did they say anything about the phone being able to place calls and send text messages once Verizon switches over to VoLTE?
So really, my question is evolving to: who supports this phone on the network?
Kaempferi - are you able to use "wifi" calling and have it work? Also, i was thinking something like Google Voice may work. I know its a bandaid solution, but, doing call forwarding from Verizon line to Google Voice may work out. If installing Google Voice and making calls from it (while only on the Verizon data, not wifi) works ... hmmmm...
I would be willing to get the phone and stay on Verizon provided i could only pay for data and then use something like Google to resolve their network issues for calls.
This isnt a "what phones do you have" question. The answer of "look at our phones" shows not only are you unable to properly understand what your customers are asking, but, your inability to handle and respond accordingly. Thanks for showing us lesser phones. Maybe, one day, when i want to buy a Lambo, you can sell me your Accord and tell me its the same.
No they said calls will not work with the phone. Tried texting just now. just sits at waiting for a connection. I know I have HD voice on both lines activated too. So it just doesn't work.
Couldn't find a direct setting to wifi calling on the Rog but did on my note 9. So I installed google voice on both. Unless I'm doing something wrong on the Rog it still doesn't work. 4g/Wifi or both on at the same time can't make a call on google voice either. Whereas the note works fine. Haven't done anything to google voice either, just installed it and tried to call my local CVS.
What if it's connected to WiFi?
I did connect google voice to wifi. Still didn't work.
So Kaempferi kindly joined a discussion with myself and a few others and we found some contradicting evidence that it might be capable... HOWEVER, it's grayed out. So... We found an option to "enable" VoLTE but it's grayed out.
Next we found that with the Verizon sim card installed, the IMEI registers as 00000 instead of it's actual IMEI. So... As of right now it seems it's not picking up the proper channels or frequencies.
In order for it to work, I believe that it may need a firmware modification update to work, from Verizon. Or, at worst case scenario, it might need different "antenna" to work on networks such as Verizon.
There ARE hacks to make a device work on VoLTE but I don't recommend it because it requires root access.
So for the regular Joe to buy the phone and have it work immediatlely on Verizon's network, Verizon and ASUS are going to need to have "words" with each other about making a compatible device with the proper frequencies.
Sounds like this is a locked SIM.
Just to verify, i would call Verizon and make sure the SIM isnt locked. Reading "000000..." is a clear indication of a locked SIM.
Also, a lot of the issues you are/he is facing are results of a locked SIM as well....
Here is the latest update from the XDA Forums:
TLDR Asus has not asked Verizon to put the phone into their device database and refuses to.
So I've had the phone now for a few days and from day one I put an activated sim card from a previous phone and had working 4g data. When I looked into why calling and texts did not work I found its because the IMS is not registered so VOLTE is not provisioned to the device. I searched through past examples of this and fond the original razer phone(not the 2) had this same issue. Following those forums many people were able to get the phone fully working by having Verizon add the IMEI to the CDMALESS group and then adding VOLTE and via the vzwims APN. I worked with a level 2 tech from Verizon and my request to have the device added was rejected. Back to the original razer phone, in those forums they say to keep requesting it and eventually some one will do it, this was unofficially confirmed by the Verizon tech. The tech then further said that the device is 100% compatible with the network and would work fully if the device was in the database. They confirmed that ASUS had not requested the device be added to the database but if they did it would have been added not unlike the new razer phone 2. So I called asus customer care and they said that they have no way to ask corporate to make that request and were unwilling to reach out to their head officeor managers to make the request for us. In the mean time I've had my Verizon number forward all calls to my google voice number and have just fine calling that way. I plan to ask Verizon once a week (until I get over it) to add my imei to the database, although this would we be much easier if asus chose to do it themselves. Advice or questions are welcome.
We should all get on a phone conference together and call the T2 service center to let them know we mean business. ._.
I, for one, DO NOT want to go to some terrible service provider like AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon is the perfect match for the ASUS ROG. This is ticking me off!
Need to contact some CEOs of Verizon and/or ASUS because we are getting nowhere.
Content modified as required by Verizon Wireless Terms of Service
Don't know if anyone would actually read it but here is what I found on Asus' website about contacting the CEO:
ASUS Support | Contact Our CEO's Office (US and Canada Only)
I work for a company that deals with 2 carriers, one being Verizon.
Info they arnt telling you:
It costs a company 1/4 of a million to upwards of 1 million to get your "BYOD" (read: non-verizon) devices "whitelisted on the network". This isnt "ASus needs to call the CEO and have them add to a database. This is Asus (i assume) not paying the million $$ to get a devices added to the Verizon network.
We do this for tablets, not phones, but, they are non-Verizon devices we pay a TON to have added to the Verizon network.
I, for one, do not want Verizons hands on this, branding, or, software. They add so much garbage to everything they touch. They are a communications company pretending to be a software company.
Either way, this boils down to "is Asus willing to pay to have it added to a network". Verizon CAN simply add each device as a BYOD, they just wont.
I used to work for Tech Support, and honestly what you're doing won't really influence anything. It has to go thru ASUS since even though it may be compatible, unless it's recognised (and adding it into the database still won't fix that) by Verizon from ASUS it just won't go anywhere.
I'd like it too since it sounds awesome (using a Moto Z2 with the gamepad so it's piqued my interest), but until then it's more or less futile.
Also if it is an issues where it is the hardware (antenna that picks the bands up), then it's definitely up to ASUS at that point. They'll have to build a model that's compatible with Verizon's band selection.
We confirmed its not a hardware issue. Its just asus needing to ask Verizon to certify the device. It has the exact same antenna bands as the one plus 6T and the razer phone 2 both of which work.
Then the pressure to get it certified should be placed on Asus.

Razer And OnePlus PAID for Verizon certification. It’s not a little fee, it’s a considerable expense and many manufacturers won’t do it. If Asus isn’t inclined to pay a large sum for it, it’s not going to happen. Even if they did, that does not assure compatibility. The HTC 11 had problems.
While oneplus 6t and Razer 2 got certified, both have had posts on the forum reporting problems.
As a side note, my older son has the Razer and loves the phone. My sons are both on my family plan on ATT. I have a 6t on the way and will try it on my Verizon prepaid line once Others report that it works.
I seen the antenna bands, but what about the frequencies? As of right now, the ROG can get 4G access but cannot make calls or send text messages.

Can you guys just contact the Tier 2 Tech support so they can give us a straight answer.
Ive asked ASUS to put in a feature allowing us to enable VoLTE in the software. I got a new SIM today and have the CDMALESS override put on, talked with tech support and they said it should be just enabling HD calling on the phone. So I went to asus and put a ticket in for a feature request to do so. Hurry up and wait.
Nice to hear that you got the phone working. So, can I also go to a Verizon local store and ask them to add my phone to the CDMAless group or are there other steps that you did for that to happen?
Let me clarify, it still does not make calls or texts natively. I suspect you would need root to force hd calling or wait for Asus to maybe add it as a non root toggle.
Hope they really meant it. ”looking into” isn’t a yes.
You know, “mom, I want a pony”.
” um, okay, dad and I will look into it”.
Where did I say "looking into?" I am pretty sure the executive department wouldn't lie about something like that.
I say this because... Everyone else I talked to from Verizon AND Asus said, they are not at liberty to say or disclose anything. Plus the ridiculous amount of liability that comes with official word. ._.
So do I believe it? Yes! Will I hold them to it? Absolutely!
I have to say, If Verizon is going to ignore the gaming community and not provide these great games phones to their customers....I for one have no problem leaving Verizon to go to another carrier just to use this phone...it's a shame and a huge disappointment that Verizon has done exactly that..
I never thought I'd switch to another network after Sprint, but I guess that's what Verizon wants. I know there isn't 150 million ppl gaming on their network, but gamers are pushing this and Verizon needs to understand and grow with the rising not stay flat and boring...
Thanks Verizon for showing me the door...guess I'll have to take my money elsewhere!
