Well,
I thought about this long and hard and bought a Droid Sunday. I really wanted the Verizon network because it is the only one that covers all of the territory that I work in. All of the others cover 1/3rd of the area at best...
I had to get a new phone plan this week ( or risk losing my number I have had since 1990 ) and I was not sure if the Nexus One or Incredible would be out or not. It took some getting used to the Droid and it's quirks... At first I was horrified on Monday at the battery life ( only 4 hr ). To top it all off the 3G network was down all mourning in Atlanta and I could not check the traffic ( One reason I got the phone ). And you guessed it, I got stuck in a 2hr traffic jam on I285. Needless to say, I was not all that excited about the droid by Monday evening.
However, once I got a full deep cycle charge it seemed to work fine today (Tuesday). I finished the day with 60% life remaining. I guess that nearly full new battery did not get a proper charger over the first night. The 3G was great today. I was at a work site and needed a PDF manual. I downloaded it and copied it via USB to my laptop. It literally saved me about 2hr worth of waiting for a tech to call me back to give me a default password needed to configure a device that I was working on. I also had my company email forwarded to my GMail account and was able to answer a few emails at lunch and a few more before I left the site to head home. Normally I would have to wait until I got home to check the emails and have to work late to answer them. I got home and was done with work for a change.
I still want a Nexus One or HTC Incredible. I got one for the wife as well on the buy one get one free deal. When I get a N1 or HTC Incredible I'll probably keep the extra Droid as a spare phone since it was free ( I tend to break stuff )
I have been agonizing over this for a few weeks now. I am glad it is finally over....
The news about the Android 2.1 for the droid update was a nice surprise as well...
