Droid X > Incredible

For those of you out there still trying to decide which phone to go with, it is becoming more and more apparent that the Droid X is a hands down winner. I offer the following articles as proof.

As far as durabillity, the Droid is a tank and I wouldn't expect the Droid X to be any different. I'd be a lot more worried about an Incredible breaking than the Droid I'm using. Not to mention the following, :smileywink:

The app is Quadrant Benchmark and performs a series of tests for the cpu and graphics. Basically a test to see how your phone performs under various conditions.

I would hope the Droid X would be equal and should be superior (due to the time advantage -- Not to mention, learn from their first Droid). It might help those that want the Incredible for what it is, get it sooner so those that just "want the best" will do the jump to the X.

I hope it is exactly what is claimed because it wouldn't be fair, you know? It's just like the rumored screen switching with the HTC. I hope those that recently received the Inc or are in the near future.. compare to the ones in store or with another person that has had it since launch or a little after so they can make sure they got the real deal or cannot tell the difference between the two..technologically/appearently.

Hopefully everyone gets what they want.

It shows speed and how well the phone runs. So pretty much once 2.2 hits the X it will blow the other phones away.

HTC's build quality is very sub par compared to motorola's I mean just look at the EVO. The droid was like a brick and super durable making it last much longer then most HTC phones

Maybe you guys can explain to me how the Droid X will be so much better than the Incredible? Other than a bigger screen and the HD capable camera, and a supposed upgrade to 2.2 with flash coming (that somehow the Incredible won't get), it seems to just be more fancy for those of you who will be using your phone to watch videos on youtube all day and what not. (no offense)

So... bigger screen, lil bit nicer camera, and upgrade to 2.2 (dunno whats so great about that)... so a newbie how it will be so much better?

Personally I don't like the design, its bulky and the lip for the camera makes it that much thicker. Where as the Incredible to me I think would be more suitable, size wise and what not.

Englighten me on some strong points people, please.

faster processor. more efficient processer (meaning longer batttery life). comes with a larger battery. comes w/ a 16gb sd card instead of a 2.

in addition, if you have to replace your incredible, have fun waiting at least a month for a new one. motorola wasnt silly enough to put the life of their product in the hands of a competitor.

The Incredible will get 2.2 (Froyo) but it'll likely take longer as HTC has to adapt SenseUI to work with it. As for not seeing what's so great about Froyo, it's about 400% faster than Eclair (2.1). In my experience running it on the Droid, the performance difference is night and day. Battery life has also improved.

Ok so... basically comparing Incredible to X... Incredible would be like like buying a Mustang GT.. and the X would be like buying a Mustang GT with all the upgrades. Same frame and what not but all the upgraded bells and whistles? Lamens terms for a not so savy phone user like myself.

i wouldnt necessarily put it that way. more like a basic mustang vs a hooked up corvette. the 2 cars are different, and the corvette has more under the hood, but there are still people out there that just like the syle of the mustang.

htc uses a different operating system mod than motorola. htc's seems to be a little more efficient and popular.

tr1....i'm not sure that the cam is better on the X???? can anyone fill us in? also, is the X still going to be a slide out qwerty or did they make it full touch screen. i couldn't tell by the pic i saw a while back?

im not sure if there is a difference in the camera hardware, however there are 2 important differences related to the cameras. first, the X comes with image stabilization, which will help you to take better, more focused shots. also, the X can record video in 720p hd.

there is no qwerty keyboard. it is full touch screen. it does, however, ship with swype. swype is a technology that allows you to simply drag your finger over the letters in a word without picking up your finger. it guesses at what you are trying to spell. it sounds crazy, but from everything i've seen its rather accurate.

Swype is great. If you haven't used it, go to a Verizon store and play with the Omnia 2 as it also comes stock with swype.

If you don't need or like the "Bells and whistles" that the Droid X has, then don't get it. After all, everyone doesn't like the same things in a phone, otherwise there'd be no need for any carrier to have more than one phone for sale at a time.

Only you can decide which phone is right for you. All anyone can do is point out the differences between one phone and another. It may seem like someone is trying to convince (sell) you that one phone is better, but remember that's just his opinion. When it comes to deciding which phone you should buy, YOUR opinion is the only one that counts!

I'm not being sarcastic or smart mouthed about it... but how is the Droid X going to be faster than the Incredible? Both have the 1ghz processor and the 512mb of ram... so...? Is there something I'm missing about either of the phones?

different processor technologies.

for example, if you have a desktop with a 3ghz quad core processor in it, it's going to run much faster than a p4 3ghz

Better CPU architecture and better GPU. Still not sure why they didn't go with the PowerVR SGX540 like the Galaxy S instead of using the 530 like the droid though. Would've made the beast even beastlier.

Is it THAT much faster? Noticably? I would so go for it since it's the same price if it weren't for that lip on the top back for the camera components... it looks like it's nearly twice as thick then... and I put the phone in my pocket.

Personally I can't get past the physical size of the X. If it were smaller and didn't have the physical keyboard I probably would have gone for it.

The Droid X does not have a hardware keyboard. The Droid 2 will, however.

I was complaining a lot about the size of the D X before. If you want a good idea of the size of the thing before it comes out, go to any store with a HTC EVO 4G. The Droid X is .2 inches taller and .1 inches thinner. They are the same width.

I too, was a little worried about the size of the Droid X and just to see, I went to a Sprint store and played with the demo EVO's they had. I was pleasantly surprised, the size didn't seam excessive at all in my hands

Following are the specs of the two phones that I have gotten from their respective websites. As you can see the Droid X is .22 taller,  .03 narrower, and .11 thinner.

                              EVO                         Droid X

Height........           4.8"                            5.02

Width..........           2.6"                            2.57"

Thickness..             .5"                              .39" **

**  This measurement is taken at the thickest part, the camera end. So, by looking at the pictures, it's a pretty thin phone. Therefore when they say the extended battery only makes the phone 1mm thicker, this is at the thinnest part of the phone. Hardly noticeable I would expect.
