Extended Warranty - Battery Replacement

I can't get a straight answer from anyone at verizon. In the past I had confirmed (and done it) that on the extended warranty, after the 1 year manufacturers warranty expires ($3 @ month, soon to be $5) if the battery was at %80 rated capacity the phone could be replaced under warranty. The new extended warranty terms seem to indicate that this is no longer true and the battery would have to be dead to be replaced. Additionally if a button no longer worked (volume for example) although this was valid for phone replacement in the past now it is considered normal wear and tear and not covered.

Does anyone at verizon know anything about this plan or has this just become a scam where nothing is covered?

You have some great concerns @beemgee The Extended Warranty program is great to keep your device protected. We know that it is important to know all the details regarding this plan. With the Extended Warranty, you get a replacement if your device experiences a defect after the manufacturer's warranty expires. A manufacturing defect is something that's wrong with the device itself (e.g., internal, electrical or functional problems). It doesn't include physical damage caused by outside forces (e.g., water damage, cracked screen, etc.). Yes - except that Verizon now has a "normal wear and tear" not covered policy. So anything that no longer works after the 1 year warranty, volume button for example, is no longer covered.

This has been confirmed with the verizon executive relations department. Still want to claim it's an extension to the original warranty that actually covers something.

insurnce and extended warrenties are a rip off. You're better off saving that money and if you need a replacement you'll have money saved up to do that,

The old extended warranty for $3 @ month was pretty good - phone replaced free when battery would no longer hold a good charge, same with button failure or charging port problem. didn't cover loss or physical damage but otherwise free for any problems. Now under the new rules useless.
