Galaxy S4 not connecting to mobile network in Malaysia

I'm currently traveling in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and I have a Galaxy S4. I have my US Sim card in the phone and the agent I spoke with before I left said there will not be any issues, but the phone is not finding a mobile network. If I look under Mobile Network I have the following settings:

- Mobile data (unchecked)

- Global Data Roaming access; Allow access for all trip

- Roaming (gray): not roaming

- Signal strength (gray): 0 dBm 99 asu

- Network mode: Global

- Access Point Names: VZW Roaming Internet

- Network operators (gray)

I just want to be able to text from my phone and make a call, I don't want to access the internet over my phone.

Any advice you have would be helpful. I don't currently have access to a phone and your live chat has been busy for the past day. Its extremely frustrating not to have access to a working phone while traveling.

If you are using your US SIM card, did you add Global/International services to your account before you left?

I spoke with Verizon and they said the phone was set up to work already so I didn't have to do anything. I was able to connect when I was in Hong Kong.

It sounds like there might be an issue at the location you're in, especially if your service was working before now. I would recommend contacting VzW's Global Support team. If you chat with VzW they can advise you of the best way to reach them from a landline service. I believe they offer a free call to them via a calling card. They would provide you with that calling card's information to make the call.
