Google Wallet vs. ISIS What gives?

So, Verizon Wireless, you aren't supporting Google Wallet in favour of ISIS.

I understand the company has a stake in it, so that part makes what doesn't is this;

Google Wallet - It something customers can use, it works, its widely available, yet Verizon Wireless, you deny us this...

ISIS - works like Google Wallet whatever...but every time I check up on it...Its only available in Salt Lake City and Austin!! So in favour of allowing devices to support applications people can actually use, you make it unavailable and the only option there is being an application that many people cannot use. Very Poor business model.

You can request a NFC SIM card through customer service even if you don't live in the pilot cities.

OK Ann....,and that does what to rectify the fact that the service doesn't work anywhere but Podunk nowhere? I want to use it In NYC and Miami....does my secure SIM magically make it work there? My Nexus7 works just fine in those locations via Google Wallet. That is the point of this argument.

You can use Isis in locations outside of the 2 pilot cities. I have been using it in NY and DC for the past several months.

Why I hate isis!

Here's my take. Isis is going to ruin the whole nfc payment program. 3 of 4 major carriers have created it blocking google wallet. Here's the problem. isis is only available in 2 test markets. the you can order a chip argument is completely lame. The phones that support the isis chip are only a handful and the payment cards isis supports are even fewer. Capitol one saw the writing on the wall and pulled out. I love the NFC technology but your killing it with your exclusion of google wallet on our phones.

Time to let this one die verizon. its a dead horse and your just pissing off your client base.

The SIM cards are only available in 2 test markets, currently. Isis will work nationwide in locations which currently have touchless payment available. See THIS thread. I have been using Isis in NY, Washington DC and Boston since around May of this year.

Your "you can order a chip argument is completely lame" is a bit off base. I ordered one and received it the next day. A large portion of Verizon customers prefer to order their phones online BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE GOING TO VERIZON STORES. It seems if the SIM cards were available nationwide, those people would just as likely want to order it online anyway. It took all of 5 minutes of my time to place the order for the SIM over the phone, MUCH less time than if I had to drive to the store to pick one up. Received the SIM card less than 24 hours later.

Regardless, I have read where Isis will be rolled out nationwide by the end of the year and you would then be able to pick up a new SIM at a local store at that time if you don't have the 5 minutes to order one over the phone.

As to Isis not accepting more cards, I have no argument there. Currently, I only have the AMEX which will work. However, I have read that more cards will be eligible when it is rolled out nationwide. We will see.

Your assuming that u have one of the VERY few phones that you can get an isis chip for. Again, few phones, few cards, losing program.

BTW i ordered an amex prepaid card just to work with isis. (i just don't want another credit card, my visa is enough) Think isis took that? Nope, isis only works with certain amex cards. Thanks isis.

You can get a secure SIM for any phone that has NFC.

Until they allow me to use my banks Check card and not force me to get another credit card(I thankfully paid them all off and closed the accounts 2 years ago), then I don't want this service. It's garbage to force me to take on debt that I don't want or need.

That's not the point. I don't want to be coerced into obtaining another card that I do not want or need. I have taken an old school mentality of living on what I can pay for with cash on hand. I keep one card open from my bank that I refuse to let them raise the limit on. It is set at $1000 and used once a year to maintain some form of data to preserve my credit rating and also in case of an extreme emergency. Otherwise, I do not want or need another card and refuse to be roped into a system that forces me to do as such.

That is perfectly fine, I said nothing to the contrary.

However, from your previous post you had stated that "it's garbage to force me to take on debt that I don't want or need." Opening a card doesn't force you to take on debt.:smileyhappy:

However, I prefer to take advantage of the perks associated with some cards while STILL not taking on any debt. Different strokes...

Of course it would be beneficial to the card companies if one WAS to take on debt when opening a card, it is certainly not required.:smileyhappy:

PLEASE just unlock Google Wallet and give us a choice for once. Isis now has a 1.5 star rating on the Play Store. It has no chance of survival. Hopefully a class action lawsuit is in the works to kill it all together. Forcing things like this on Americans rarely works. Focus on what you do best, making Americas largest and fastest network, and leave stuff like this to the experts, giving us choices. Let the best solution succeed versus this forced approach, locking out the competition. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE unlock Google Wallet!

I don't believe Google Wallet isn't blocked anymore. My wife downloaded it on her Moto X and I have it on my GNex. I used to have to find the APK online and side load it to install it. I don't have to do that anymore.

I am in complete agreement. If Verizon really wants Isis to take off, they are going to need to allow fair competition. Many of the one star reviews on the Play Store have nothing to do with Isis, and everything to do with not allowing Google Wallet.

Verizon: allow Google Wallet IFC payments and let the best app win. You will find that most people would use both and elevate the entire market.

For what it is worth, it appears Google Wallet is fully functional in Android 4.4. Unfortunately, I believe the Moto X is currently the only device on Verizon with that version of Android. I have considered purchasing this device solely for that reason. If it was available in stores and not on a per-order basis thru Motorola, I most likely WOULD purchase the device!

This has been explained before. This is why the FTC and Google do nothing.

The secure element you must be white listed by Google. That means you have to pay up to allow it. If that wasn't the case than ANY unlocked, and unbranded device with a secure element would work with Wallet. They don't. If Google was being indifferent and actually competing they wouldn't lock out the secure element(one reason why Isis has it in the Sim card), and all devices with NFC/secure element would work with Wallet.

I have multiple devices that are unlocked and unbranded and I can't use Wallet.

So you think it's good competition to pay someone you ate competing against?
