Hate Verizon messaging

Dear Verizon,

I hate your messaging application.

I so tired of duplicate (up to 12 times) messages when txt'ing someone. Doesn't seem to make a difference what I do to try to fix it, it always comes back.

Fire your messaging app programmers and gets some new ones as these guys are crappy coders and debuggers.

Also, why does the virtual keyboard stop working? Is that another sick joke that your playing on your poor customers?

I have one year left on the contract and am going to see what Sprint has to offer when the contract is up. I would switch to AT&T but I dislike them due to how they screwed up my home phone some years ago.

I would suggest you stay away from Sprint. I was with them for 6 years. They have become a horrible company. They straightup lie to their customers. And on top of it, have the slowest un-reliable network out of all the carriers. Take the time and get on the Sprint forum.

I have seen alot of people complain about the messaging just not working. Not getting duplicates. Just either not getting the text, or getting an error code. There network is so slow that alot of people cant get picture mail.

Obviuosly you will have to do what you fell. But if you switch to Sprint and have issues, dont say no one didnt take the time to warn you

I haven't had the duplicate-message problem, but I have seen that if a message is longer than the character limit, Verizon cuts it off, and the rest is lost. You have to watch your message length very closely, and send 2 or more messages if it gets too long. Bad as AT&T's coverage was, they at least would divide lengthy text messages up into multiple parts (and of course charge for each part, but at least the whole message went through).

Joe what phone are you using, I had the same problems you are describing with my Droid X2 - it was actually a Motorola problem not a Verizon issue. I was able to correct the Texting problems by installing Handcent SMS (free in the market).

I also had the Virtual Keyboard issue and downloaded Better Keyboard Pro - it's a Paid App; but it has a lot of great features and allows you to customize it with different skins.

I have a Droid X.

I switched from the default messaging app to Go SMS, but it has the same duplicate msg problems as the default app. I have used Handcent SMS before. Will test it again and see how it performs.

Regarding the keyboard, am using the gingerbread one now, Tried the GO Keyboard and it still had issues. More than happy to look at your suggestion.

Next phone will not be a Motorola phone, but still an Android one.

Is the virtual keyboard disapearing when you are trying to type? If that is the keyboard issue you are having it is a well known issue and you can fix it by disabling next word prediction. I don't have a Droid X but on my phone it's Settings->Language and Keyboard->Touch Input->Text Input->Prediction and you would uncheck that. If it's a different keyboard issue and for the duplicates I also would say try an app other than the default, they usually do a better job. If it's still happening after that it's more than likely a network issue for the duplicate txts and you would have to contact technical support.

The keyboard shows up and does not work. It shows the popup letters as you type but nothing gets placed on the application input area on the screen.

Restarting app doesnt help much, I have to wait for some unknown event finish or reboot the phone.
