I accidentally subscribed to the $5/mo NFL Mobile app. It was all to easy to subscribe but I can't find how to unsubscribe.
Does anyone have any ideas?
This is running on a Droid RAZR
Hello NATRAPS,You can unsubscribe by removing the application. Just go to Settings > Apps > All > NFL Mobile > Uninstall. This still end the services. Keep me posted!Thanks,AdamE_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Thank you! I have uninstalled the app (Uninstalled Updates then Disabled it). I also called Verizon (*611 from my phone) and confirmed it would be removed. I waited a few hours and still saw it listed under my services. I then called back and confirmed that the first person noted my account that it was indeed being removed.
To add to the confusion, yesterday I received an email telling me that I have a new document available in my account. I logged in and saw that it confirmed the addition of the NFL Mobile App and the $5 charge still appears under my services.
If I am actually charged for it on my next statement I will call back a 3rd time to dispute the charge.
NATRAPS,Thank you for removing the app and being proactive by calling *611. If you have followed all of these steps, you will not have an issue for the next billing cycle. Let us know if you have any issues. Thanks!Katie HVZW SupportFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
How can an iPhone user unsubscribe? I also deleted the app off my phone, but it did not come off my bill.
Hello Katie,
Unfortunately I WAS charged. I called back again (the 3rd time on this issue) and was assured the service was properly canceled. The charge was backdated and the pro-rate was credited.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! 3 times to remove a service that took 2 seconds to opt into? My Network Extender activation was less challenging!!
I, too, wish to cancel future $5/month billings. I'm on an iPhone 5. Do I simply delete the app? Where in My Verizon online would I see it there (or not)? I've been looking all over and don't see a section for that.
In the MyVerizon app go to "change features" then select "current feature" then you should see it and be able to cancel it. I did this on my iPhone. That stupid app never worked anyways...
does it work on Droid RAZR?
p.s. your name is reflective of my thoughts.
I isntalled and paid for the upgrade but when I click on the Steeler's game to watch live, it pulls up the Vikings game. So if this isn't going to let me watch the games I want to, I need to cancel. This is bizarre.
Has anyone figured out how to cancel or disable the App for iphones?
I'm about to file a BBB complaint for the fact that it is impossible to find where to remove this 'feature' on the MyVerizon website. It is listed under 'My Features' but does not show up on the Change Features (it did last year), Change Plan, or Manage Media Services pages. Really sketchy, VZW. Since when does uninstalling an app remove a subscription feature? Particularly since RedZone or VCast or whatever I'm actually subscribed to is not required.
I know your frustration all too well. VZW does a good job at charging you things without much help on how to cancel or change things so you don't get charged anymore. The only way I found that will actually take the feature off is by downloading the MyVerizon app and then you are able to cancel the NFL mobile subscription. You can always write them an email or call them to get it removed too. I agree it's HORRIBLE customer service, but you gotta remember, they feel they can get away with this kind of stuff because you're locked into a contract and can't really threaten to cancel your agreement without a $300+ cancel fee (not sure how much it is) If it weren't for the 20% off discount I get through work, I would never get or keep VZW. Customer service likes to blame things on you until you get so mad at them they end up actually helping you. Once again, HORRIBLE customer service, but what do you expect since you're not even talking to anyone in America. Gotta love outsourcing right?
I'm willing to tolerate a lot, but this is straight exploitation. If you're going to market self-service and force people into it, this doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Thank you sooo much, Verizoncostswaytoomuch! Your response is what led me to success in removing the NFL Mobile!!! I had to download the "my verizon" app to my cell phone, sign in to my account, and then go to "change features" then to "current features"... the NFL Mobile app was there and I was able to follow steps to remove it (unlike online via the computer). HOWEVER, IT IS NOT REMOVED UNTIL YOU GET THE SCREEN THAT READS "Success--you've made the changes to your plan features. Thank you" and you see the "close" button to click. If you don't get to this point, it won't be removed. So back at the beginning, once you select to remove the feature, you need to click the "review" button and then there are about 3 more clicks (I wish I had written them all down) because they want to: confirm the confirmation that you confirm you want it removed--seriously, they do not make it easy for you. You will then be asked when you want to stop the subscription (on the normal billing cycle, now, later). Good luck.
You have to download the MyVerizon app from iTunes.
Once you login:
Go to "Change features" link on the home tab
If you have multiple lines (like I do) choose which line you want to cancel it from (can only do 1 at a time if there's multiple)
I'm not 100% sure but I believe the NFL Mobile feature shows up when just simply scrolling down when you're in the "Change features" section.
Click "Remove this feature"
Once you click this, it will look like nothing happened, so you will need to click on the "Review" button in the lower right corner of the screen and follow that until it tells you your features have been changed.
Came off instantly after I did that. I also took a screenshot of this for my record in case they charge me again, which wouldn't surprise me AT ALL. (with iPhone, click the "home" and "lock" button on the top at the same time to take screenshot of confirmation)
Since VZW customer service is probably in India and can't understand actual questions, feel free to post and I'll try and help best I can if you're having trouble. No, I'm not a VZW employee (I don't think I can since I live in the US, can I? haha), but just a helpful citizen :smileyhappy:
Interestingly, the Android My Verizon App does not have a "Change Features" link. But if go to "Device" and click "NFL Mobile" it will launch the app. Very helpful.
Even more interesting, I can't uninstall NFL Mobile.
I have a Motorola droid 3 & can't figure out how to delete the NFL Mobile from my phone. There is no uninstall button! I installed this in Dec. to watch games & never could get it to work. Not sure if I'm still being charged for it, help me please
It probably can't be uninstalled from your Droid, only disabled. If you never signed up for the "NFL Mobile Premium," "VCast," or "Red Zone" package (they keep changing the name), you should not be getting charged anything. Check your bill or go to My Verizon and View All Features for your device and look for a $5 "NFL Mobile" charge.
As noted above, you can't uninstall it, but you can disable it. Go to Manage Apps and find the app. Then click Force Close, then Clear Cache and Clear Data, then Disable. If you don't see Disable to the right of Force Close, it may say Uninstall Updates; if so, click that to uninstall any updates and once those are gone, it should say Disable. Once disabled, the app drops to the bottom of your app list under Manage Apps, and won't be visible in your app drawer.
Thank you to all that replied to my question about uninstalling NFL Mobile from my phone. Funny I don't remember that app being there, thought I had looked for it my self. But at least it isn't active & I'm not being charged for it. Don't understand why they put these apps on your phone & don't let you delete them if you will never use them.
My iPhone 4S came with the app. I don't think it's "standard" on every phone but I'm sure most come with the app already installed. With their agreement between the two, I'm sure that was part of it. Older phones wont have it cause about 2 or 3 years ago the app rights went from Sprint to VZW.
The same thing happened to me. Could not watch the game I was interested in. The above screen shots were very! helpful. My Verizon on your phone is the place to cancel it. The website online is no help.
I tried to your instructions but I do not have the option to uninstall the NFL Mobil App. My only option is to uninstall updates to the app. Help!
You can't uninstall it, but once you uninstall the updates, you can disable it.
Click on Uninstall Updates. Once they are uninstalled, the button changes to Disable. Once you click that, the app moves to the bottom of your app list when you view it with Manage Apps and it won't appear in your app drawer.
And disabling the app will not cancel your subscription, if you have one. Scroll down a bit in this thread for AZSALUKI's 'how to' about removing the subscription/feature from your phone.
"Change Features" isn't available if you go through the "my verizon" Widget for some reason (for me anyway).. I had to launch the actual My Verizon app to have "Change Features" available to cancel NFL
No idea why it's different if you launch via the widget.
that's odd because mine does. the above screen shots were taken from launching the widget.
Thank you Dexter_9! I followed your instructions and canceled NFL Mobil.
I also uninstalled the updates and then disabled the app as instructed earlier by someone else.
P.S. I am running a Droid Motorola Razr MAXX
Probably because I have a family share plan.. The widget only shows my data, where the app shows both phones on my account.
Yes this worked for me too. Not sure why we cant do this online, but it worked on the MyVerizon app on my iphone4.
Starting to think it might be time change from VZW. But thanks for posting this, it really helped!
Thank you!!!!!!!!! Your way was the easiest and most effective! Thanks again
Note to those who are subscribed to NFL M Prem. but are NOT the primary phone on a Family Share Plan.
Use the My Verizon app. But, log in with the primary phone number and password. Otherwise all you see is your phone with no 'Change Features' option.
I found the same is true on Verizon's website when I use my PC.
Alarmingly slick and sleazy that the ability to cancel this feature cannot be accomplished on the main "feature change" page online and that it is buried in an obscure spot on the phone's mobile app. Seems like a blatant attempt to wring a small amount of money out of a lot of people who figure it's too much trouble to bother with. Don't get me wrong...I love the feature, but have no interest in paying for it during the off-season...and shouldn't have to search a user forum to figure out how to make it happen.
Again pretty slick and sleazy.
Thanks Coop!! That APP is aweful. You helped me out greatly!! Garyb
