LG k20v notifies me that i have a new text message....but I go to my messenger & there is no message

It happened again today. My phone notified me that "you have a text message"...however, when I went to my messanger app, there was nothing. This has happened several times. Where are these "phantom" messages? Because, I sure can't find them on my phone.

Imgja, we can't have you missing out on text messages in this day and age, especially if you're still receiving the notifications. Let's gather some information to help fix the messages right away. When did you start having issues with the messages? Do you recall any changes to the phone around the same time (changes to settings, new apps, updates)? Also, which messaging app are you using (Verizon Messages, pre-installed Messages app)?
