New Notification after restarting phone "SIM card not from Verizon"

I am using a TCL 10 5G UW. I have had this phone for a couple years. Tonight, I restarted my phone and now it shows a notification that the 'SIM is not from Verizon'. I repeat, I bought this phone from Verizon, have had it in service for a couple years, have not changed anything about my account or my phone. I simply restarted it and now I have this notification. Why?

That would be a nuisance; I agree. You share that the device was powered off and on. How often does the message appear? Once dismissing it, does the phone work as normal?

The phone does work without any issues although every time I power off and back on the notification appears. I powered off the phone and removed the SIM card to check the condition of the contacts and all looks very good. Reinstalled, powered on and "Ding", the same notification appears. Every time I restart the device. 😞

WK121,

Are you using a SIM card that was first activated on a different phone? Does the SIM say VZW 5G on it? Do you have a prepay account with us?

The SIM card does say VZW 5G on it. It was the SIM card that I received with the Verizon phone that I purchased at the local store. I do have Prepaid services through Verizon.

I have also been getting this on my OnePlus8.  Seems to be coming from the setup wizard and the issue seemed to start after a recent security update.  I can dismiss the notice and everything seems to work fine, but it is just an annoyance at this point. Phone was bought from VZW and I am on contract.

Hi, there! It's important to make sure any error messages are addressed, though I'm happy to learn this isn't impacting the functionality. Have you taken any steps to troubleshoot this yet? If so, what steps have you taken?

As soon as the device restarts, there is a notification sound and a banner that is displayed on the lock screen indicating the SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless. I can dismiss it and I will not see it again until I restart my phone. The phone seems to work normally in all cases. Calls are made and received without issue as are messages. Apps seem to work without any issue though I have been experiencing problems with some app notifications that are not being received and apps that seem to auto disconnect so that I am not able to receive their notifications until I manually open the app again, though I can't exclude the apps as being the fault in these cases. I spoke to a Verizon representative and it was suggested that I get a new SIM card. I went to the local Verizon store and they installed a new card for me without any issue. The first power up did not display the notification and the phone worked without issue. Several days later, I restarted my phone and to my dismay, the SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless message appeared again. It has persisted since, the same as before, each time I restart my phone, there it is. 😞

WK121, we are sorry to hear about your experience. Receiving a replacement SIM card was a good step to take. Can you please confirm that your phone has the latest Software Update? What is the Make/Model of your device?

I have located some additional information that may lend reason to the issue I am having. It appears that the Smart Manager on this device may be the cause of the APP disconnections that prevent notifications from being received and am curious if this may also be the cause of the SIM Card issue. Possibly an issue during a recent update cycle? There are other threads that discuss the lack of notifications being received but there does not appear to be a way to stop or disable the Smart Manager due to the programming requirements agreed upon between Verizon and TCL. There are a couple work-arounds that may or may not resolve this issue but I am not comfortable enough in the programming aspect to attempt these. It would seem to me that Verizon needs to communicate with TCL about this issue as it is one of the largest negative review influences I have seen about this phone. There needs to be an update for this issue that might even allow for the disabling of the Smart Manager component. Setting and resetting the switches to allow or disallow apps from being accessed appears to have little to no affect on the problem. I have already returned one camera system due to not receiving notifications and have been considering returning a second. If it is a program issue with the #TCL T790S phone, then shame on TCL! And Verizon! I look forward to hearing what you have discovered and how we might resolve this issue.

I been a really loyal customer to Verizon but I'm getting tired of the careless Attention to customers.

I still have the same issue ( OnePlus 8 VZW UW 5G ) and I'm on my 3rd replacement  right now 11/22/2022 form the "Certified Like-New Replacement" (Garbage) and as right now on my 3rd replacement I just received yesterday 11/21/2022 is keep doing the same issues and something more WORSE the touch is not working properly and is freezing up and it is SUPER SLOW. And I haven't finished setting up my phone 😂

One more thing I was having a lot of lost of connection, dropped calls, not internet connection and also my visual voicemail didn't work since the notification appeared ' Sim Card not from Verizon '

Also after spent 2 hrs on the phone with VZW Customer/Tech support he want to fix the problem trying brain washing me and forcing me to upgrading my phone 😂 just like that with NO negotiating no offers no discount 😂 when the problem is from Verizon relations not mine.

Knock on wood! After a recent System Update, 1BGYUFY0, applied November 13, 2022, the aforementioned notification has ceased to present itself on device restart. This issue seems to have been resolved with this latest system update. I can now restart my phone and I don't have this issue. For how long, remains to be seen, but for now the issue is resolved.
